zimmermk's Journal, 09 November 2011

I am joining this site a few weeks into my fitness and dieting plans. A month and a half ago I added in some exercise to my life and have been somewhat regular about it. I have noticed it's much easier to move (aka climb stairs) and my flexibility has drastically improved (I'm naturally as stiff as a board!). I even managed to complete my first 5K a few weekends ago! This week is the re-start of my Atkin's diet. I have been successful with this in the past but have lost my way quite a bit. I have not weighed myself this week since starting the diet and am going to do my best to do weekly weigh ins and not stress over every single pound (Easier said than done!) I worry how continuing exercise will go on Atkin's as it doesn't have the large carb component exercise requires. I am going to keep things pretty moderate (under 3 miles) until I get into the phases where I can add carbs back in before a longer run for energy. I'm hoping by the end of March I can run my first 10K and participate in the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, SC. So here's to a new start and lots of success!
