Weight is yoyoing. I hate the yoyo's.

Yeah, I can't be trusted around mixed nuts...I mean who can just eat that handful serving size? I need to get more organized because having a large bulk size costco container of mixed nuts in arms reach is fatty suicide. My will power goes from 100 to zero in a blink and I'm drunk nutty quick.

I can see why I ate myself silly all those years ago...I have a food problem. Food addiction is real...Seriously, I could hardly control myself with how bad I wanted to down every last nutty morsel in that container.

Along the same vein, I love costco but having bulk size of just about anything I love (ie jamaican beef patties) is asking for trouble. Box of 10 gone in a week...

Carbs very high for the week....averaging 100-150 grams when I use to be very vigilant about 40-60 a day. Weight creeping back on with all the floury goodness. Ate grapes and a mango today that is probably going to be on the scale tomorrow.

I did it to myself...
181.0 lb Lost so far: 10.0 lb.    Still to go: 11.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 2.1 lb a week

It helps, when you get those "family size" containers, to portion them out into 1 oz servings,

Don't beat yourself up! What I used to do is buy natural almonds, then add in a 100 cal box of raisins or some natural dried fruit and portion it out. You can even do dark chocolate chips. Put them in zip lock bags and write the macros on it with a sharpie.

Obesity can be seen as a result of too much access to food. At some point I decided that Costco was counterproductive in my life. Huge cheap containers of delicious food was just making me fatter. Buy only what you need to feed yourself, in the appropriate scale. Americans eat too much and Costco is a reflection of that skewed ethos.

Yes food addiction is real and I have a problem with nuts as well. Like the old potato chip commercial "Nobody can eat just one" Well I can't stop with the small handful either. Refined carbs are evil for me as well, I just have to totally abstain...like an alcoholic. No rice pasta bread crackers cereal etc for me. Best of luck figuring out what works for you.

I definitely need to portion things out like I used to. There is very little hope that I can reach into that tub and only pull out one handful and stop at that. Know thyself :) I might seriously consider yanking the Costco membership. I'm only using it these days to buy chicken, eggs, spinach and very few other items. Its only ever really a issue if I deviate from that and buy something irresistible in bulk. Thanks all for the suggestions. I love, love dark chocolate btw. I'm a big fan of Aldi's 85% dark chocolate...Rich flavor and ingredient wise it seems pretty good, but I'm open for suggestions if any dark chocolate lover wants to drop some knowledge on me...all ears here :) I find that I can satisfy my sweet tooth with a serving of dark chocolate without having all that sugar...If i'm really adventurous I make my dark chocolate fat bombs....which, like the name implies, are the bomb. I think the recipe is one of my saved ones...only thing missing there is shaved, aldi dark chocolate.

It might sound overly indulgent, but for the moment I'm having my groceries delivered once a week because I can't be trusted in a grocery store. Costco would probably kill me. For me it's so easy to say "I can buy this/eat this just this once," but just this once doesn't happen. I can't even be trusted to portion things out because I'll end up eating all of the portions. Maybe eventually I'll have better control, but not now.

I find it easier to control temptation if I divide my almonds into individual portions while I am doing other cooking, rather than some other time. Then they are ready to grab when I am ready to eat them. And, this will sound really basic, be sure to eat them one nut at a time, chewing thoroughly and swallowing, before eating the next one.

I divide them too, into containers, using a scale

Damien, I'm also a fan of dark chocolate. My all time favorite is from Trader Joe's. It's called Chocolate Lover's Dark Chocolate; it's 87% with a fruity taste. Amazing! I eat 12.5 grams, for 81 calories and feel like I've had a great treat. High in fiber and antioxidants. It keeps me from feeling deprived.
