mountain_mama's Journal, 14 July 2016

Interesting day yesterday. I started the day off with a different breakfast than usual and then fought the hunger all day. I made a pancake breakfast using 1/3 pumpkin flour, 1/3 coconut meal & 1/3 almond meal. I used a little maple syrup and it was good, but having the sugar left me hungry. I ended up at 2100 calories for the day with 1 hour of hard yard work. So not over my need just more than I like to keep it at.

Pleased to be down again today and will go back to my usual 3 egg, cheese omelet with some sort of vegetable included. It satisfies much longer.

Try natural peanut butter on your pancakes. It was a staple at the hospital when I did floor nursing to help us through the long and busy hours.

I am having a similar experience with carbs. It's a negotiation, now. "Will this have a side effect of fatigue? Cravings? Bloating? Is it worth the risk?" Well, sometimes, it seems to be. But to be betrayed by such high quality flours and sweetener? *shaking fist* Is there no justice?!?

I have an organic vegetable garden and the "pumpkin" flour was made from a Boston Marrow we just harvested. I wanted to try out the pumpkin flavor and see how it was. The issue was the Maple Syrup - I will switch to a touch of stevia next time, which doesn't create hunger spikes for me. I'll balance today out on the low carb end to settle the hunger down. What's really awesome is understanding my body and knowing what to do to bring it in line instead of it dragging me all over the place with cravings :-)
