cocobutt's Journal, 31 October 2011

I've lost a lot of skirmishes lately in my war on overeating. I allowed myself to say it's okay to eat whatever I want in any quantity while I'm out of town. The problem is that I have been out of town 14 days out of this month. I weighed myself today and it has caught up with me. We just got back home last night from a 2-day trip to Hendersonville, NC. Splurged on apple cider donuts at Sky Top Orchards and then a Guinness and fish & chips at Fado in ATL. And that was just yesterday.

I don't like the way I've been rationalizing, so I have got to change how I think about the way I eat when I'm not at home. I will try not to be discouraged by my lapses here. This time last year we took the same trip to apple country and I remember saying NO to all desserts. I had the resolve then, I can do it again.

If I can get through this evening without hitting the Halloween candy bowl, I'll consider that a major victory. Candy is poison, candy is poison...

Just give all the candy to the last kid... (laughing). Hope you are doing well Coco! I am fine by the way... yeah... your rationalization is a bit off... remember... lifestyle changes go on vacation with you :) You can still eat... and have a good time... but just can't over do it... Think about that... and you'll be fine. I'm not asking you to cut out... just cut back... there is a big difference and that's what works for me.... have a great evening... and Happy Halloween!

I always take the leftover candy to work and leave it in the lunchroom. Maybe allowing yourself to eat what you want while away is not the best - you can get nutritional information on most restaurant foods, and pick the most dietetic. You can do it! Stay the course.

Hey, thanks, buddies. Great to see both of you still here. I've really been falling off course badly these last couple of weeks. Sugar has a death grip on me right now... I'm struggling to shake it.
