22

New PR yesterday. Deadlifts at 235. Body weight up, calipers down.

Went out to dinner last night because it was scorching hot. (25C, 80F.) I had halibut, coleslaw, frenchfries (with ketchup) and a lot of salt. At home afterward, I had ice cream with blueberries, strawberries, and banana. (Dang! Just realized I forgot the maple syrup.) Hey! It was refeed day! The weight gain is not too shabby given the circumstance.

It's a sunny, balmy morning at 6C/45F. Gotta love summer. lol

I must admit, I was quite happy.

That's a tall order I'm afraid. Would that we could. I think if French fries could do it, it would have been done.

Bruce, seriously....80 degrees is scorching hot?????? It's 80 in my house right now and the AC is set on SPIT ICECUBES, I guess it's what you get used to, the house feels like heaven right now because it's the gates of hell outside!

I actually grew up in a desert in southern BC where 105 to 110 happened. It was brown and dry. I actually was down there 3 summers ago and spent 6 weeks. When I hit week 7 I couldn't get out of there fast enough. My problem is working in an a building where we deal with many nasty things and I'm sometimes loading product out back so it's steel toes and long pants every day. Building is not air conditioned. Like the job a lot though. Very broad knowledge base required and lots of research.

Heck it wasn't getting below 80 at night here last week. I don't mind heat during the day but hate it at night. Hard to slerp with no a/c.

I'm wondering if I've slipped into a recomp.

Good job only up a mere 0.6 after all that deliciousness! You reminded me that I forgot to eat my dessert today! Lol

Recomposition. Some say it's a myth. Others try it. The theory is that you are either in a fat losing state or muscle building (anabolic) state at any given point in time. Some say you can do this by cutting calories but having a large meal after a lifting period ot provide nutrients for a anabolic state for a short period of time - even a period of hours. In a way it makes sense, but it's a pretty serious attempt at micro management that simply may not quite work. There are huge arguments over the possibility. On the other hand, lifting hard while in a calorie deficit as long as you get the occasional refeed does seem to allow you to retain the muscle while burning the fat by calorie deficit.

hey why re-compose if you can just write the music in the first place? (just kiddin)

Nice one bell. I have to recomp there all the time too. Little tweaks and sometimes dumping whole ideas are necessary. I guess maybe diet is a creative exercise too.

Have you ever read Mike Matthews book "Bigger Leaner Stronger" or Tom Venuto's "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" ? they write at length about cutting, refeeding, recomp, etc. They may not have information you do not already know - but still interesting reads about macros and ways to manipulate them.

Lizzy. I teach guitar privately and do some writing. I can't imagine a world without music. I went to the doctor one time and got a referral to a hearing specialist because I thought I was having a hearing problem. The hearing specialist told me, "Yeah, you're having hearing problems... if you're a dog." :D

Roflol! Woof woof. Glad your hearing is good. I did one of those hearing tests on my phone. It said what "age" category you fall into for "normal" she related hearing loss. It was pretty accurate. I know I've lost some playing on loud stages but I'm careful now! I tested the app on someone younger and they could hear the sounds I couldn't! Ahh, I'm getting old. I love the guitar. I just broke mine out the other day after years and am getting my protools up and running this next week.

I've considered going digital but I have a Yamaha aw13g that works great for me. I like the old school feel of knobs and sliders. It does great. I have a condenser mike that is so sensitive I have to record at night so I don't get traffic noise from cars driving by. (Very small community.) That's through 2 6" layers of concrete and a porch buffer. Love that mike... just don't shuffle your feet.
