Thanks so much for sharing this....I have to say I am so glad to have found this site as I think being on here when we get to goal is going to be the secret to us keeping it off with all the help of our wonderful FS buddies. But it certainly is worth knowing so that we can fight it.........

Yvonne, I know that I couldn't have gotten as far as I have without this site. Even though I have hit a long-lasting plateau, I haven't gained any weight back because FS keeps me constantly cognizant of what I'm putting in my mouth and I have my wonderful batch of buddies to cheer me on. At least knowing that those particular hormones are activated makes me feel like less of a failure for this whole summer of static weight. It truly is all in my head (thanks to the hormones) and, knowing that, I have a better chance of doing something about it.

I am glad to know that.....I feel like you I would like to break into onederland, but I think now I know this I just have to knuckle down I seem to be not going crazy but not being as good as I should be, but like you I know that there is no way I probably would have gone under 240 I didn't have the sticking power before. So we are in the right place. This really is a secret....someone asked me what I was doing to get here, I said there is a secret and if you are lucky enough to know it you can do this as well. LOL I did tell her but she hasn't even joined I think it scares some people....they may get slim.

LOL! I certainly intend to. We have to make Dr. Oz proud, after all. :-) I invited my oldest daughter to join tonight. She only has 30 lbs to lose, but that can feel like a million if you've never been heavy. G'night good buddy!

Thanks Johanne for sharing the link. I wonder if I have any hormones left at my age (72);0 ? On Atkins and the RDI suggestion here, I eat about 1500 calories, sometimes more. My weightloss is extremely slow, more like a lifestyle change. I get discouraged at times, but see you and others here staying with it, even through the no-loss periods, and that helps me a lot. Excercise is difficult for me because of my legs, but I do housework and futz around in the yard etc. Hubby encourages me and tells me that slow weight loss is good, that the weight will stay off better. I just went down a size when I bought slacks and a top. That felt good. Take care my buddy!

Gigi, they're not talking about female/male hormones. These are hormones everyone has at any age that control appetite. It was for survival in the days of feast or famine, which hasn't existed in the western world in over 100 years. I'm 67, so believe me, I understand the whole difficult to exercise, slow weight loss thing. Hubby is right. It just means we're making a true lifestyle change and we won't gain it back. Congrats on the new size! I'm working on my next size down . . . hopefully by Christmas. Fingers crossed. Sending hugs!

Thanks. That's me and it all makes sense. I just have to keep working at this. Fell off the wagon bad the last few days with Halloween candy, just when I thought I was developing some good habits. It's so hard and slow to lose but I can put it back on so easy.
