Im getting a little concerned the past few weeks my heart rate is in the low 40s at rest. I feel fine but a little week and get light headed when i get up too fast. I have a fib and take a meds to control it.last time i told my heart doctor he cut my med in half but it still low so i cut it in half again without telling him. I dont know if its because im losing weight or because im exercising a lot. I dont want my heart to slow down to a stop. They shocked my heart with that paddles to put it back to rhythm twice but it did not work thats when i weighed 468 he told me it would help a lot ifvi lost weight. Right now im in and out of afib he wants me to do a procedure where they stick wires up through the groin to the top of the heart valve and burn the part that send electric pulses to the heart. He said my heart is not life threatening so i told him ill weight a while. Because im on a roll working out 6 days a week 2 to 3 hrs a day . Does anyone know how low a heart rate can get before it becomes dangerous?

Catheter Ablation is the gold standard for Atrial Fibrillation. It pretty much has 100% success rate. Personally, as a fellow "sufferer", I told my GP that I would self-medicate with 75 mg baby Aspirin per day. After a long pause he reluctantly agreed. It's fine and I don't even notice it. Regards the low BPM (Brachycardia), anything below 60 is a cause for concern. Low 40s is probably on the cusp and could be related to your underlying condition. Or maybe something else totally. p.s. Avoid the "paddles" (Cardio Reversion) as it is totally ineffective. Regards. Axxe

It's called heart block. If you feel well, and your heart rate goes up with exercise, you're OK. A pacemaker would fix it. As far as natural remedies, my husband's atrial fib resolved six months after he stopped eating GMOs. If he eats them two days in a row, he again gets irregular heart rhythm where the atrium pumps, but the ventricle misses, then a normal heart beat a couple times etc.

I would trust your physician on this one. He is the only one who knows your situation completely. 40's is low, but doable. You should be dialoguing with your physician about your concerns. You may need to do that ablation. Inform him/her that you have adjusted your medication as well. And yes, your resting HR will lower as your fitness improves. Again, dialogue with your physician and take his/her advice.

Please call your doctor! After all, you have been making all of this effort to be healthy and alive. You need to make sure you stay alive after all of that hard work. It's even more important to talk with your doctor soon if you live alone and don't have anyone with you at home to call 911 on your behalf.
