I did a VERY BAD thing. I had a bet with a friend that I could find something on plan to eat ANYWHERE. I let her choose the place. She picked Taco Bell.
I know, right? But I looked over the menu, and decided that the fillings in a burrito supreme had to be at least semi-keto friendly. Ditch the tortilla, and I'm golden.
Surprise #1: Since the last time I ate there, they've added refried beans to it. It used to be just meat, etc.
Surprise #2: The sour cream they use is reduced fat!
Surprise #3: When I got home, I checked the nutrition information, and ingredients. It is an absolute SH*TSTORM of YUCK! No wonder I have the headache from hell.
Check this out:

Interesting, I have always believed Mexican food is plenty calorie ridden, and not the most nutritious food, yet I see myself eating there once a week. I have some tacos in the frig as I text. lol It is easy and cheap to do my Taco Tuesday.

There you have it...better living through chemistry, you ever see one of those laying on the ground? The ants won't even eat it.

I know, Knuckles. My body is rebelling right now. I feel foggy. Head is pounding, and between hungry and nauseated. NEVER again!

Warren, the irony of the thing is that without the tortilla, my total calories for the day are 821. I stayed true to program, and only went over carbs by 5g. All those damn sugars!!!!!!

I know, Debra! I always loved Taco Bell....I actually went to the very first one in San Diego in the 70's. Gawd, where has food gone???

@bdmgoggins, I know, right??? At least the lettuce and tomatoes were "natural". ROFL!

It's gone, at least as far as most fast food goes, even places like Zaxby's use chicken that has been chopped, processed and reformed into chicken-breast-type food-like substances. The only real food you get is the fresh salad fixings....and with GMO's that's kinda iffy too!

You live in California? I have a Mexican food place in Arcadia, where I grew up, that is the best Mexican food ever.

I know that's right! I swear, it's getting to where I can taste the chemicals in "food" now. I've been eating pretty clean for the last 3 months, and when I go out,it's mostly a disappointment. The really sad thing about today? It didn't even taste like I remembered.

Yep, your are right about that Debra. It is fast for a reason. They like to make it cheap too.

When I say Mexican, I definitely don't mean Taco Bell... Most of our "Mexican" meals are prepared at home... To include tacos, burritos & enchiladas to name a few. No, I or the wife are not Hispanic, but after living in TX for over 10+ years I've learned how to make several dishes. Chain restaurant food is typically crap; I don't eat at them with a rare exception of Taco Tote or Taco Cabana and a few "Mom & Pop" restaurants. And now knowing what I know, I would stay away from the overly processed fillings. Stick to the barbacoa, skirt or flank steak tacos and burritos, avoid the generous servings of beans and rice. I would opt for corn, not flour tortillas, but either way they are both carbs.... Definitely walk past the soda fountains... or at least opt for ice water... diet sodas are loaded with chemicals and some sweeteners have been noted to cause an insulin spike even though its not sugar... just Google "Scholarly articles for artificial sweeteners and insulin resistance"
