KielW's Journal, 26 May 2016

For the last few years on FatSecret I had my weight goal set at what I want to eventually get down to, 220lbs. I'm 6'2", it seemed like a good aspirational goal - I don't want to be rail thin, and I doubt with my frame I could be, but even if I only got to 240 I'd still be happy.

Instead, I've changed it to a reachable near-future goal of 300, dropping another 40lbs from today.

The 220 goal discouraged me every time I looked at it. That's years away! But 300? I can do that by the end of summer if I try!

So... let's hope I can hold to the new goal. I almost made it once, I just didn't know I was shooting for something so attainable at the time.

That's a great idea. Sometimes we psych ourselves out looking to far down the road. I really hope the incremental goals gets you motivated. Best wishes!

PS - Look up Phil on here. He just did your drop - 300#+ to like 185 in about a year. Totally doable.

the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step...Lao Tzu (ancient Chinese proverb)...sometimes the journey ahead discourages us...hope your new goal is that first step towards your healthier and better life!! Note; even just losing that first chunk will have a major health benefit...combine some fitness and the foundation of a lifestyle change (not a diet) are there for you, take care and good luck!!
