So I'm supposed to be sticking to LCHF, this morning I caught myself eating Vietnamese broken rice leftovers... Maybe a cup of rice worth! It was tasty, I hadn't had rice in a few months, but I need to get it back into gear! I think the carbs from a few days ago relaxed my judgement BIG TIME and I strayed for a few days. Anyhow, I have to get my kids' birthday party plans squared away, it's Saturday but the weather says windy! I hope there's no jump house blowing away issues!! Stressed out, trying to quit smoking AGAIN. I think I have to load up on cranberry juice this time. Very stressed!

Diet Calendar Entry for 19 May 2016:
295 kcal Fat: 5.84g | Prot: 9.24g | Carb: 49.56g.   Breakfast: Whole Milk, Coffee, Cooked Rice. more...

The question is, are these just occasional treats in your diet to change things up (nothing wrong with that, in fact that can be a good thing), or are you feeling deprived on your current diet and find yourself craving carbs? It's been mine (and I think most professionals) opinion that you ultimately need to find a diet that isn't a 'diet' which you are on temporarily, but something you can live with indefinitely. Of course stress can do crazy things to our bodies. So stress management can help for maintaining a steady diet. So, perhaps the best advice is to find ways to destress (particularly in the moment). Again that tends to be something each individual needs to find what works for them. Good luck with the party!

Hey Smarty, the occasional slip is no biggey... I've found red wine to be a great de-stresser and way cheaper than therapy... ;-) hope the birthday plans go well...take care!!

Quitting smoking AND trying to lose weight, at the same time, is not a good combination. Trying both together takes a stout heart.

You are right Jocko, I think right now I may put the weight loss on a temporary hold, if I can get through a week not smoking, I will consider it a success and get back on the diet wagon!

Funny, I ate all that rice and food yesterday, and I will be down in weight tomorrow!

Enigma, I haven't heard that. I'll look it up. Off to dinner and Greek Theatre, Dine and Concert combo tomorrow. They have places to eat they promote near the Greek.

Smarty, Quitting smoking AND adjusting to your diet at the same time are ill advised. I quit smoking first. THEN started the diet. Doing both at the same time is VERY heard on the heart and mind. If I were you, I would work on getting the LCHF in line and steady first. I speak from experience sweetie and am only trying to save you more pain than you need.

Hi Warren! Enigma is pretty cool, very relaxing music- I think they're German or somewhere in Europe. Wow, Greek theater? That place is awesome! It's been a few years since I saw a show there, but I love that theater! Yes, Asian food can have a good effect- it's so healthy and since you did the Shabu Shabu, I'm assuming most of the fat went into the boiling water and not your tummy! Have fun Warren! Hubby's coming back today, so when I weigh in again, I'll probably be up 5 lbs... Lol

What does hubby do, that he is away for stretches? I remember when my wife worked nights. I never saw her.

smartygirlCA, I look on rice (or other carbs) binges as speed bumps instead of roadblocks. Besides, think of all you learned as a result. I find that Life teaches us all the time, and the lessons that come from "adversity" are often, oddly, the most liberating. Be kind to yourself, and "carry on," as they say!
