This gain was expected, still makes me feel sad though... I will have to pick up the pace going into May. I still have so far to go, and wont get there by over-indulging on weekends. Hubby and I should maybe stay home for a few weekends and not socialize as much. Its easier when you are at home and surrounded by healthy food options, than going to friends or family where they don't have the same goals you have. And I have to get motivated again. Would like to hear what helps you guys stay motivated on your weight loss journeys?

Change that train of thought. You don't have to give up socializing on weekends. I've found that if I follow my method of weight/fat loss diligently on Mon to Thursday(Friday optional) Then I can indulge on the weekend an still stay in a state of weight/fat loss. Perhaps try doing what I do to see if it works for you. Stay motivated :)

Ja, Eliza - I'm with BigBoy on this one... No need to stop socializing to drop the weight. Be strict in the week and let it go a bit over weekends. Perhaps do u're weighin's on Wed's and Fridays. I don't do the fasting thing though; I eat loads of chicken and fish!! (And vedge and water). Try it all and find something that works for u! You CAN do this!!!! The most weight I ever lost, was a few yrs ago and something I did over weekends / socials, was to drink either loads of coffee (instead of a drink). Or mix white wine with sprite zero or soda water (half-half). And theb sip it so slow that I'll only do 2 glasses the whole night! And eating wise: when we'd be at a place where I don't have healthy food options, I'll just eat SUPER slow, so I actually eat way less than normal, but still appear to be socializing. And when going to a braai, we'd buy baked chips rather than oil fried ones. And also prepare our meat in a healthy way. Here's my all time favorite chichen recipe (make sosaties or whole chicken or just fillets with it) Take the skin off - go nuts with some medium curry powder and cover it real thick. Sprinkle balsamic vinigar over it and very little salt. And braai, or grill or pan fry!! Super yum!! Eath with vedge or salad. Abs are made in the kitchen and we are what we eat (unfortunately). But we don't need to starve to loose weight. Just make better choices. Take it slow and be consistant. You'll make it!!

Thank you so much for the advice!

Another important factor is to consider that your weight on a Monday morning can be higher than later in the week due to all the undigested food that is still inside you that you consumed over the weekend. I prefer weighing myself everyday for observation but only recording my weight on a Thursday morning as my official weekly weight since Thursdays is far enough from the previous weekend to allow me to digest as much as I can from the weekend consumption. In my case, my Monday weight can go higher than my previous Thursday's official weight but then by Thursday my official weight is lower than Monday's unofficial weight. It's good to understand these principles or you might go nuts with the weight fluctuations.

I haven't thought about it like that. Makes perfect sense though... I think I should also do my weigh ins on Thursdays only.

BBO and SkinnyMaringa are both right- moderation and balance!all you have to do is find what works for you. Regarding motivation...I think set small goals and give yourself a reward( preferably not a good one)...like get a mani/pedi/brows done/a new hairstyle or buy a new top/dress/shoes...maybe for bigger goals e.g dropping a dress size/10kg you can book a spa day...one thing I learned on my journey is that YOU need to become a PRIORITY in YOUR life!!its a daily struggle for me...every morning I have to remind myself why I started, how far I have come and where I am trying to get to(I have a vision board)...maybe get family/close friends involved...for every kg lost they can sponsor e.g for my first 10kg 4 of my gfs all have me R25 per kg...do after the first 10 I got R1000 which I spent on a new dress and made a yummy healthy lunch for me&other gfs.you can do it and know that we are all behind you👍

Wow Nicki that sounds good... I will definitely invest in a vision board. When I started this journey I did set some smaller goals for myself and a kind of a rewards system. But then life happened and I kind of put myself on the back burner. Love the idea of your friends sponsoring you! I might just incorporate it! I guess this is how I got here in the first place. Ignoring my body and my own needs. Thank you Nicki, you are an inspiration!

Wow Nicki you have some great ideas Eliza just never give up I know it is easier said than done but you may spoil yourself and have cheats once in a while it's because we feel guilty that we give up and then it becomes a vicious circle
