How do you know the difference between taking a needed break and being lazy?
I'm a little torn right now because I'm absolutely burnt out. The past 2 nights I barely got 5 hrs a night/day of sleep and it was all broken sleep to boot. Between being exhausted, and hormonal, and the bottoms of my feet being bruised.. just the thought of getting out there tonight is making me want to cry. When do you know it's okay to take a night off and when you need to push through it? I don't know what to do. I know I'm not gonna break out of this stall sitting on my bum, but I'm pooped like a turd! 😝 Thoughts?

Christine, I would give my feet a break and let the bruising heal a little. I would not push that. The feet have to put up with a lot and the more you walk on the bruises the worse they probably will become. Take tonight off and see how they are tomorrow. Thats just my opinion.

You gotta take a break if you need it, just not too extended!! The fact that you parent little kids, I'd say you should take one so your exhaustion doesn't rub off on them!

I don't call any day a "cheat" day. If I take a day off from the gym and/or 100% healthy eating it is a TREAT day. It is a CHEAT day if you didn't earn it/don't deserve it.

You have to treat yourself kindly (yep, I'm absolutely forcing that particular opinion at you). If that means taking the day off, then that's what you need to do. You have to be your own best friend <3

no worries Christine...a planned or unplanned break is part of life...this is not a sprint, think of it as a long term lifestyle change...you've already felt how you can work through a little discomfort and get the benefit of physical accomplishment...future Christine will thank you!! A little head's up though, when you restart it will take a bit for your legs and body to get back in the groove...don't worry, again it does get easier!! Good luck, have a great week!

christine I was in same position as you today and did not do any extra walking. Sometimes we just need to regroup and tackle it tomorrow.

Rest

When you use words like "exhausted" "making me want to cry" I think its time for a break. Getting fit may not be sparkles and rainbows, but it shouldn't be physically and emotionally painful with a risk of hurting yourself because of A) bruised feet or B) physical exhaustion where you could actually hurt yourself because your muscles aren't rested.

Give yourself permission to snag some much needed rest and once you're feeling a little more lively, kick it up a notch. So many times I've pushed myself way too hard and failed because of burning out. You deserve a rest <3

It's a process. I still will give myself an extra rest day if I feel like I've burned out. It's the war, not the battle. You did that big walk. Take a break. Almost nothing can be done fast. Almost anything can be done give time. If you're beating yourself up, you need to pull back and get a little perspective. You're on Atkins. Have some extra calories in the form of fats so your body relaxes a bit. You're awesome for fighting the battle you are.

If u can nap take one!!! It's amazing what a 20 min nap will do but u need more. Idk how u can w those cats but u need rest. It's just as important as the nutrition and activity. Good luck.

It should not be bruising your feet...what's up? Yes, REST days are essential.

Bruises? Ouch. Take a needed rest then get back at it. Might need to see that socks and shoes are right for you. Much luck!

I wish I had read this earlier. Christine, you need to take a break. Even I didn't lift more than 3 or 4 days a week. You CAN over train. Give yourself a couple days. AT LEAST 2. Don't go crazy on the food or anything. Just Eat like normal. And do no exercise. Not till you are more conditioned for it.

Thanks everybody! I definitely pushed it too hard lastnight trying to break the stall. 3 sides of the block are uphill. I did 3 laps..and that mini cut through block I added at the end is the same way. In order to get through it lastnight I had to dig and was almost stomping to get to the end. Not my finest moment or best decision, but that damn scale really messed with my head. Thanks for understanding and not making me feel like a sissy baby girl! I'm gonna try and get some sleep before my cats go into a-hole mode! Lol nighty nights 😊

Sometimes our bodies just need a break and sometimes we just get stuck in that rut, you will overcome it. You have to power then will.

don't push yourself that much and the best thing to do is to exercise 5 days a week and take 2 days off but not in a row, by this way you will guarantee that you are giving your body a chance to recover itself.

well as far as exercise. We walk 3.5 to 5 miles every day. If the weather does not permit, we use the treadmill or the elliptical. Then every other day we do some weight lifting and floor exercises. No pain no gain is not so. your body will let you know when it has had enough. every other day gives your muscles time to rest.

When you're not getting sleep, you need to take a break. And get some rest. That is essential for health, healing, weight loss, and sanity. Don't push yourself so hard that you completely fall off the wagon. You're shooting for sustainability here. And feeling good! Hugs.

Much appreciated, mah peeps! I slept like a champ lastnight and my mood has improved exponentially, and my feet feel much better! With not walking lastnight, SW bloat, and not evacuating the escape hatch for 4 days I knew I would not be happy looking at the scale today, so I didn't. I have decided not to do so again until Monday for the challenge check in. I may or may not walk tonight depending on my tummy. Lol I doubled up on the fiber this afternoon to remedy the backup and I've been craving chili, so that's on the menu for dinner. Things could get ugly! 😂😭😂😭 I need to get in at least 37 min a day for the next 4 days or 49 min a day of exercise fri, sat, sun to make my 250 minutes exercise goal. Either way it's getting done.
