I know I shouldn't weigh everyday but it helps me, at least for now.
I am finding it hard to find low carbs a lot. I eat veggies like there's no tomorrow and a small amount of meat 4-6 oz a day.
I had steel cut oats with no sugar this morning now my carbs are high!
Anyone have any thoughts?

I find that if I weigh myself everyday it reminds me about losing weight. It really keeps me focused and fresh in my mind.

I did that too when I was on Atkins. I liked watching the daily number fall. Now on 5:2 and once a week seems to make sense for me now because it feels like a one week cycle instead of a daily one. Love oatmeal too but it had to go away. Some veggies are sneaky on the low carb diet. Watch out for tomatoes and carrots!

I keep my scale in the kitchen and I weigh myself a few times a day.. my mom suggested to do that and weigh myself when I go to eat ect.. to raise awareness.

Really low carb is extremely limited. Definitely no starches and very limited veggies. Also, make sure you log everything you eat (that made all the difference for me). Just don't give up : )

Hi Cathy, your info shows that you are on your own diet, so I am unsure about your concerns about high carbs. There are good carbs and bad carbs and everyone is different. I was always a staunch Atkins follower and found that it was the only way I could lose weight... However, I have learned a lot since then...normal people eating normal foods and good foods can consume 100+ plus carbs in a day...I would watch how your body reacts to the food and if you feel good and it keeps you from eating the wrong food go for it....Just listen to your body...I have learned that I can eat light greek yogurt to cut down on sugar and my carbs are running in the 60-80 range and I feel great and I am losing weight...

Cathy, I'm another who weighs every day. Personally I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that - it's just all in how the info impacts us. I find it kind of interesting to see patterns emerge depending on my intake, my sleep and my movements. You may well be doing the same thing. Re: the carbs - it seems to depend on the plan you follow. If you're leaning toward a low carb plan then the oats are probably off the table. If you're not, I've seen recommendations for anywhere from 100-200 carbs/day.

Thanks you all I feel better about the weighing now. I am going to my Doctor tomorrow and I'm gonna copy my diet plan and show her, see what she says. I'm not sure if I'm understanding this very well so I'll tell her about it. Also I am doing my own diet but I'm making a life change and not so much a diet. I'm a diabetic and need to try to control my suger level better. Any more advice or thought s please share
