Any protein shake drinkers out there? They make my stomach cramp so bad it's excruciating. I've tried two different kinds, tried sipping, same thing for both. Geez Louise. I'm not allergic to any foods. Any alternatives?

Any possiblity you have a lactose intolerance Misty? I saw that you were drinking Whey Protein. You mentioned you tried different kinds - did you mean different brands or different proteins? That really bites! I hope you're able to find a suitable alternative that agrees with you.

I have natural edge at the house but you have to mix it yourself it's all natural and you can only get it online... I mix it with either water or almond milk

Interesting....just did a quick search on "protein shakes upset my stomach" and all that I've read so far target whey as the problem. I don't have a problem with it, but it seems to be an issue for quite a few people.

No intolerance to anything. I also researched and really just came up with the inulin factor. Are there other drinks without whey? Man I didn't want to do my workout today but I did it! I'm sweating lol. Whew glad I did it. Later than normal but I got er in!!! #DontGiveUp!!! Thanks all for your comments.

What are you mixing with it?

I had the same issues with protein shakes until I found Orgain. It's all vegetable based protein. It's vegan. I got mine from Costco. It's only $29.99 for a huge tub of it. I LOVE it! I have 2 scoops every morning with 1 cup of vanilla unsweetened almond milk, 2 tbsp. of PB2, a sprinkle of cinnamon and 8 cubes of ice. It's so addictive!

I know that there are soy, hemp and pea proteins available - probably a lot more as well. Just not sure if they'd work toward your goal.

I've tried water and unsweetened almond mix. Same results.

I sometimes have a blender shake after a long bike ride and I like the recipes in the Abs Workout book. 1/2 cup yogurt 1 cup of milk scoop of whey powder - protein mix banana 5 ice cubes Sometimes I add peanut butter instead of the banana. As far as the store bought mixes ugggh.

Thanks Suzy. I don't need the side effects that's for sure. I'll go without until I can find something else. I'm glad I didn't spend a lot of money on. 30 day supply at first. Ooooh id have been mad.

Misty, I'm using Allmax whey isolate mixed with water, no issues at all, mixes well, tastes good, has lots of bcaas, 110 cal, 0 gm fat, 1gm carb, and 27gms protein per serving. Only thing I don't like about it is the price. It was recomended to me by the Pilates queens, and no they don't sell it

Is there any other protein that's not whey? I don't get sick or have to go to the br it's just a terrible pain. Lasted an hour later night right after I finish it. It's like my body is totally rejecting it. Stupid me had 9 to to tell me no more. Maybe I need to get the good stuff that costs more. Thank you all very much for the suggestions.

I was bumping into the same problem just as I started training for a marathon. Thanks, GI Tract!! Vega products have been pretty good to me - no whey, no soy, 160 g protein, great iron and calcium #s compared to the others I looked at, 160 cal.

Make sure you are only getting 30 gram of protein. I use a half recommend serving.

@Mistybenner - depending on where you live and what's available nearby or to order, there's many other types - whey and casein are both milk-based, and there's also egg white based proteins, and plant based options such as soy, rice, pea, etc.

I use Bio Chem sugar free 100% Whey protein. mix with 8oz 30 calorie no sugar almond milk, tbsp coconut oil, and some times depending on how long it will be before we eat again, I add a raw egg. works for me.

If whey upsets the stomach, you might try Vega products like others have mentioned. They sell them at my Whole Foods store so you might check there fr them.
