Pking's Journal, 07 November 2009

So I finally stepped inside a gym today after about 7 years. I usually do all my workouts at home. A co-worker gave me a couple of free passes to do a spin class with her but what she didn't tell me was that I will be going to the more intense class instead of the basic & intermediate classes. Hmmm...I wonder why? So I went to the class and arrived about 10 mins late, hopped on a bike (I guess that's what you call it) and started going for it. After about 30 mins the instructor came over to me and was like "Dang bro, you're kicking butt for this to be your first time." Then he looked down and saw I had the bike settings on number 1. Then he was "Aha! I see, you got it on the easy level." So he cranked it to number 9! I could barely move the pedals. lol. We both had a good laugh about it and afterwards I told him I never really used any type of machine to exercise so I don't jack about settings. But I hung in there and stayed the whole hour & 15 mins. I must have burned mega calories.

On the eating side. I've been practicing making a ton of various type soups for the cold weather...butternut squash, lentil, split pea, etc...and increasing my intake of various greens. Way better & way cheaper than buying pre-made foods.

I remember my first and only time in a spinning class and after 30 minutes I said no mas. But that was back then lol so maybe sometime in the new year around March I might try that but good job hanging in there reguardless of the settings lol. Oh yeah good idea with makings of soups.

LOL about your level 1 workout! I'm sure level 9 was a little more challenging. :) I love soups in the winter, too. I made a bit pot last week and had it almost every day. So much better than pre-made - especially controlling the sodium! Enjoy - and post your favorite one if you can!

Great to hear about your spinning class. I actually have never taken one but have been thinking about it. I wonder if your experience has scared me a little bit. :) I also enjoy soups in the winter. I am making pea today. Do you have any recipes that you love?
