mysterious shrinking lady's Journal, 16 September 2011

I'm so sorry that I didn't comment on everyone's journal yesterday, but I did read all of them. I'm always amazed at what I miss if I don't keep up with reading journals on a daily basis. I have also neglected to answer a few pm's in a prompt manner. I allowed myself to drift off to sleep while watching a ballgame on television. I realize falling asleep is no excuse for my neglect, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Absolutely nothing of interest occurred yesterday. All day yesterday I thought it was Friday and I've convinced myself that today is Saturday. G is as confused as I am, and Abigail finds it amusing not to enlighten us. Sometimes I can hear her laughing at our foolishness. She is a bit confused herself because the weather turned cold without anyone asking her permission. Her Highness is not amused at this!

I'm rather relieved that today isn't Saturday because I agreed to go out with my admirer on Saturday. I won't refer to this upcoming event as a "date" because I don't expect anything in the least bit romantic to come of this. The last time I went on a "date" was sometime in 1988, which is nearly a quarter of a century ago. To say that I am somewhat out of practice would be an understatement. Needless to say, my self and my body have have been through many changes in the past twenty-three years. I have been up and down and all around. I've been inside, outside and upside down.

I truly had no intention of teasing my good buddies. I was surprised that writing that an admirer had phoned me would cause such an interest in details. I admit that it did become fun to withhold the who, what, where, when, and why regarding my admirer.

I did meet him at the Senior Adult Center in our city, and he's not the eighty-four year old man who tried to show me his moves in the Fitness Room. Actually he is a couple of years younger than I am. Last February I went to join the Senior Center because I wanted to have access to the Fitness Center there, which is rather nice. A lady volunteer gave me the papers to fill out and I sat down at a table to do this. This is when I first met Rob. He came over and asked if I wanted a cup of coffee which I politely declined. He walked to the other side of the room and just stood there looking at me. I thought perhaps he was a slow janitor or something, but he was too well dressed to be a maintenance worker. I gathered up my papers, cane and purse and returned the papers to the volunteer. As I left, I stumbled a bit and turned around. Rob was standing over the volunteer desk intently reading the information on my papers.

A couple of weeks passed. I went to the Center for the monthly Fitness Room orientation. Before the trainer arrived to demonstrate proper usage of the equipment, Rob took us down in the elevator to the Fitness Room and had us sit on uncomfortable chairs while he droned on about the rules. Besides me, the only other participants were The Good Doctor and his fourth wife. G's good friend Harriet was his first wife and he was my dentist in my youth. He is over eighty and his latest wife is younger than I am (more about the Good Doctor at a later date). The proper exercise lady came and orientated us. I discovered that there was equipment that I could not even get on because of my hip. The Good Doctor ran up the steps to the outdoor door. Rob was so disappointed because this was AGAINST THE RULES. Shaking his head in dismay, he took wife number four and me up to the main lobby again. We had to sit at a table while Rob made Fitness Room cards with our own personal number on it. Number four grabbed hers and escaped from the building. Being much slower, I was still trying to get up from the table when Rob took a chair opposite me and began talking to me...and talking to me... and talking to me. This is when I discovered that he was the Program Director. I finally told him G would be worried about me and I tore myself away from him and hobbled out to my vehicle and went home.

I next heard from him in July when he informed me that because I was on the waiting list to go to a Cincinnati Reds game, did I want to go on the next trip to the ballpark. I wanted to, but my hip and knee had deteriorated too much to be able to enjoy such an excursion.

When I heard from him last Friday, he called to ask how I was doing and by the way, could he take me to a play...or something? The last time I spoke to him, we decided that going out to eat in an uncrowded place would be best for me, my hip, and my knee.

I will provide details of this foray tomorrow. Have a great weekend!!!

Sounds like your Sat. will be a change of pace for you if not entertaining. Relax and enjoy at least it's a free meal without G. Jazz and Baby (my 2 puppies in the profile photo) send their love to Abigail--they love cats.

Thanks, Rita! I am looking forward to going out without G. I haven't been able to do that since I can no longer go to the grocery store! I warned him he might be embarrassed to be seen with me! Abigail will be thrilled to have two puppies sending their love - and all the way from California, too! Have a wonderful weekend!
