sonnymac's Journal, 09 February 2016

Weight down from 171 to 170.4 this morning.

This journal entry is a little perspective piece, especially created for the doubters who commented on my grits, eggs, bacon and toast breakfast photo yesterday. You probably have moved on and that's too bad, you really shouldn't miss this! Lots of good looking food pics below!

Since last April 15th when a doctor warned me that I was dangerously close to becoming a diabetic and having to give myself insulin shots, I went from this:

or this might be a little more flattering:

close up:

Note that back in the old days, I weighed in at a svelte 230 pounds with a
Hemoglobin A1C at 6.3.

Now after losing 60 pounds and keeping it off, + or - a pound, due sometimes when I get carried away at a buffet, and cutting my HA1C all the way down to 5.2 and being told by my doctor that I will never become diabetic if I just keep up what I am doing, I now look like this:

Or from a video I put up on my e-book blog, a screen shot:

Now I accomplished all this via exercise, taking Metformin, and making a drastic diet change away from sugar to more healthy choices. Choices that evidently some here do not approve of. I thought that a few more meal photographs might be in order. If the doubters thought my grits and eggs were bad, just wait till they see these. Oh and just to get it out there,
the only calories that I count are those burned off by my exercise bike.

All time greatest meal pics! First is the one that started this whole post idea:

Look, I have hundreds more meal pics from this diet journey, the vast majority of which a lot of folks , dare I say a majority perhaps, might consider HUGE. More food porn pics are available, just ask.

Let's cut to the chase. We all have our own way of getting to our goals. You have your way, I have mine. I happen to believe that my way is the best way for those that have been diagnosed as prediabetic. I even wrote an e-book about it. I strongly believe that you do not have to starve yourself to lose weight and regain your health. Unfortunately that is evidently an unpopular view around here. So be it. No hard feelings.

I would like to extend an invitation though to those who are having doubts about the current groupthink that seems to be in place here- consider joining me on the dark side. The side where you eat tasty food until you feel full and then go and hop on your exercise bike for a leisurely 10-11 mph ride for 30 minutes, 5 days a week with no sprints, none of that marathon training stuff. Just enjoying yourself.

What have you got to lose, other than that big belly or the thunder thighs? Follow this journal, read back in the entries, check it out- this is real and it is your body and your life we are talking about after all.

Thank you Rockiesfan! I feel so good that I have changed my mind and decided to drive up to the Nature Preserve and do a 6 mile round trip hike down the canyon and see if I can spot any bighorn sheep!
