OMG! I finally broke 210. I'm finally home. I'm finally in the zone and working at several things I've been putting on the back burner. I'm finally back . . . ME! I said I would get busy with all the things that have gotten behind on as soon as I got back from the August 27th weekend. It was an SCA event and a very nice one. I got back late Sunday. My DIL called me the next morning to say she had entered us in a "sheep to shawl" contest at a fiber event over Labor Day weekend, in Bethel, MO. What that means is taking a raw fleece and, in this instance, turning it into a 20"x70" shawl. Boy, talk about jumping in with both feet. I spent last week preparing the loom at her house (I was actually able to fit it into the back of my SUV) with gorgeous Icelandic thread Lorry had spun and we left Friday morning for Bethel. We set up Lorry's (my DIL's) shop in the intense heat and did the merchant thing all day (HOT, HOT, HOT) Saturday, which ended in storms and tornado warnings. We spent that evening at a "spin-in" at Bethel's tornado shelter (and community center) eating lots of pizza and doing spinning competitions. It was quite fun. Sunday, promptly at 9 a.m., we started the "sheep to shawl". Thank goodness, a cold front had moved through and it was much cooler. We had two hours to spin and weave, 1 hour for lunch, and 2 more hours to spin and weave. It was fun and funny. My DIL and two more ladies she had recruited decided to spin "from the locks", rather than carding the wool first. The thread she had spun for the loom was perfect. Not a single thread broke during the process. The thread they then spun from the locks was so much fun. It had bumps and curly ends sticking out. What a hoot! Anyway, we ended up with the right dimensions, but our "shawl" looked more like an Indian rug. It's quite pretty, but not what it needed to be. We took 2nd prize. (Did I mention that there were only two teams? LOL!) Anyway, we had a lot of fun, met some great new people and ended up with a really pretty (very strong) piece that we're not sure what to do with. It gave me a great jump start for what I need to get done here at home, and even with all the food I ate and the fact that I had no way to keep track of my calories, I lost a little weight. I'd call that a successful week. :-)

I am still kicking... gave up the scale habit 7 days ago (according to FS) in reality it was 8 days ago so I am ignoring it completely and just going by how I feel - if I lose anything this month it will be amazing, although I do plan on losing some inches!
