Hmmm...wonder how the author seems to think this leads to weight loss - it seems more like a good maintenance plan allowing the "cheats" on the weekend and then rigidity during the week. I do not know if I would lose doing that...oh wait, I am not losing now either!! Been stuck a long while ...LOL

HCB - thanks for this comment. I couldn't figure out that part either. The part I thought was interesting was the pattern of weight across the week. When I was first doing the low-glycemic diet -- when I went from 234 to 180 in 2010 when I was first on FS -- I used the "splurge meal" approach: Every weekend, I had one meal, usually Saturday dinner, where I could eat whatever I wanted, within reason. What this generally translated to was a sensible meal, but the add-on of some delicious dessert, which seemed to satisfy me for the week. And I did lose weight consistently. Now, I can't really do a splurge meal very often because of my IBS and the fact that most things I would splurge on in the past I'm downright scared to eat now. So to have a splurge meal -- I have to make everything from scratch myself, which is so much work, I think I still lose weight because I work it off!
