cherryqb's Journal, 25 January 2016

Well I've been snowed in since Saturday! So trying to resist from eating the snack I brought for the kids! I had two of the Oreo Cinnabon and some kettle chips which are not too bad nutritionally but still not too good! But that's all! I've been drinking my gallon and a half of water a day!

After seeing your post on drinking 1.5 gallons per day, I just had to shake my head and wonder why people are still clinging to this notion. In response, I wrote a journal entry on water that you should read. 1.5 gallons, you're putting your life at risk. Remember the woman in California that died from drinking too much water...she drank 1.7 Gallons.

Ok come on now, drinking 1.5 gal/day isn't going to hurt you. The woman that died drank that in under 2 hours. So unless she's slamming down the water it's perfectly fine.

And what about 1 Gallon in 3 hours. Pretty easy to see someone playing catch-up at the end of the work day and drinking a gallon after lunch before they leave to go home. And its not only the speed, but the quantity as well.

You could be retaining water, esp. if you're eating alot of salty foods. For that, try taking some B6, and some sublingual Methyl B-12 for energy. HTH!

It would be painful to try to drink that much that fast. That's why it doesn't happen every day. Only during stupid radio contests and whatnot.

What? ! Oreo cinnabon? Drooling at the sound. No wonder it's so hard to be thin.

Unfortunately it happens to runners and triatheletes, and now to Non-athletes, as everyone says "drink water to lose weight" without understanding why or the implications of over hydration. Dizziness, muscle cramps, . Just something to keep an eye out for.

Fair enough. Death is rare, but you can certainly over hydrate and deplete sodium levels, especially if you are already restricting sodium or sweating a lot.

Absolutely.... while an LCHF diet is great for weight loss and maintenance, it is typically low on sodium, combine this with exercise and you need those electrolytes coming I'm not going out (i'll leave the rant about why Salt intake is and never was a health problem for another day) :-)

Ha, I'm definitely not anti-salt, I just know some people choose to be, and they are the ones really at risk for water intoxication.
