What do I do when I go out with friends and they want to go out and eat. I feel bad because I am on a strict diet and this week I chose not to do the Chili's or Mexican food. They understand in all but temptation is very much hard. I went to Chili's yesterday and sat there while my two best friends ate Ribs, fries, and steak. I cant eat that right now. Hopefully when I lose this weight I can manage the food I eat when I go out. I tried to go out and eat regular food but all I did was either gain weight or keep my weight. I don't care what anyone says food at chili's is nothing but fat even the salads are filled with fat. What am I to do? Any advice?

If your friends want to go out and eat, then go out and eat. But prepare before you go. Look up the restaraunt, check out the calories, and choose from there. I'm not sure what kind of diet you're own for it to be "so restrictive", maybe if you clued us in to what you're eating we could help you with your diet, if you would like.

You just have to learn to make the best choices you can and learn to ask for things cooked a certain way. The do have a "guiltless" or something like that menu there. When I go out, I try to look up the menu and nutritional info before so I can be prepared. Sometimes you can't. If I really want something, I order it, but box half straight away. I always try to remember that the first bite tastes like the last. It's about developing new habits and it takes a lot of work and motivation. You can actually order a cup of chili and a house salad at chili's with the dressing on the side. Calorie King is a great site for nutriitional info. Good luck!

There are always healthful choices on menus and if you have lots of restrictions just let the staff know. Most places will accomodate. When the waiter or waitress introduces themselves (Hi I am so and so and I will be your server!) I reply with "Hi! I am your customer and I am going to be a pain in the butt!" That gets everyone laughing and it works like a charm! The staff are always ready and willing to help me when I use a sense of humor and let them know that I have dietary restrictions in advance. I also am sure to thank them profusely! Prepare as best you can ahead of time by looking up menus too. As for salads-a plain salad (ask for a side salad) is not fattening with the dressing off of it no matter where you eat it-tell them to skip the croutons and such! A baked potato is another healthy, low fat and filling choice. At Chili's they have the Guiltless Grill entrees that are very good, many of which are only 370 clories! For the full entree! There is no reason you can not eat there if you really want to.~~~~~~~~ I eat anywhere anyone wants to go and my dietary restrictions are ridiculous since I am unable to eat chicken, soy, wheat, rye, oats, barley, malt, rice or corn in any form so, if I can do it, anyone can. :)
