Looks like Hurricane Irene is gonna hit us hard here. I'm north of where it will make landfall, but we will be getting a foot of rain, 5 feet of storm surge and 90 mile an hour winds come Saturday. Last bad hurricane here we went without power for 6 days. Tomorrow is the last day to get everything we need to get done. I still have to go to work and cash my paycheck, but we've got our water, propane, ice, coleman stove, canned food and all and I waited in line for it but got gas too.
Praying it's not too bad with damage to my house. This has been a very terrible two weeks. The murder of a friend, an earthquake and now a hurricane. I'm starting to wonder if it's really the end of the world.

Some times events like these do seem to hit us all at once. But it sounds like you're doing all the preparations you can. Be sure to charge all your phones. Clear your memory card for your digital camera and be sure it's charged as well. Resist the impulse to go outside if/when the calm of the eye of the hurricane is going by. As Bcbloyd stated, just "hunker down and be safe."

i will be thinking of you guys down in the carolina's! looks like it will be coming up my way too...i live on cape cod. same situation here, getting ready for the worst, and hoping for the best. just glad that my mother in law lives with us so we can all be together on sunday. hubby will be at work (police officer). i will be hunkering down with my four kids too...hoping it will pass quickly! good luck! be safe!
