Draglist's Journal, 29 November 2015

Woke at 222.4, up 7 pounds from yesterday. I ate too many carbs yesterday, despite having a 1200 calorie deficit (based on my Fitbit’s report after walking more than 8 miles). That means I have gained exactly 15 pounds of weight in three days (207.4 on Thanksgiving morning). I have put in monster calorie burn days over the past three days (3600, 3300, 3900). What this shows clearly is that I can’t outwork the carb addiction. I simply have to flush out the water and wait it out. It’s maddening, however. To hit my monthly calorie goal of 1955 per day, I’ll have to eat about 500 per day today and tomorrow. Going to do that.

Today's Macros (in grams, rounded) (new adjusted macros for second half of month):
Targets: 65 fat, 105 carbs, 165 protein, 34 fiber, 1275 sodium, 1665 calories
Ate: 12 fat, 26 carb, 62 prot, 6 fib, 441 sod, 469 cals (2398 used, 1929 deficit)
Running avg: 84 fat, 141 carb, 163 prot, 2005 cals (3222 used, 1217 deficit)

The fast will help you get rid of the water weight. You will be back to your goal weight until Christmas and then I think it's going to start all over for you again unless you hire someone to slap your hand everytime you reach for another cookie ;-) There was a commercial way back when a fat guy hired 3 teenage girls to shame him into staying on his diet. They would say stuff like are you really going to eat that?! That's gross, etc. I found it funny and effective LOL

You too, eh? I felt I was reading my own entry when I saw the rapid weight gain. I have no trouble keeping carbs at even a low 10g daily level. However, when I hit a plateau of a week or more, and decide I deserve some grapes, it can trigger a carb binge and result in a 5 pound rise in a couple of days. I have worked on that 1 cheat day a week, and it works well. Since I can pretty well resist everything but temptation, the trick is to go into strict lo/no carb mode on the morning of Day 2. I've been embracing the low carb regimen since the early 70s, and it still is the one that works best for me. Now that I'm in my early 70s, and metal hips put a stop to my running days in the 80s, the low-carb trip is still the one. Good luck on the post-Thanksgiving phase, the Christmas one is always an interesting challenge.

Wow Bill, you did some serious calorie burn...way more than me, got a workout on Thursday but have been a slug since. Wondering if there could be some water retention due to that?
