Dad passed away after lunch yesterday. I was amazed at the silence. It shocked me.

I derailed a little last night and ordered pizza for the family, but I have too much to focus on to really care. It will be a tough few days followed by a complete shift in what my life looks like. I have taken care of my parents for so long that their deaths leave a void. An odd opening in my weekly schedule.

I will plan on doing things with my children that involve an entire weekend. I have so rarely done that in the last decade - it will be odd, but something we all need. Normal. Or a "new" normal. It is my last year with them, too, so I need to take advantage.

224.2 lb Lost so far: 19.8 lb.    Still to go: 59.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Sounds like you are thinking ahead. Good for you. The caregiver role has been a tough one and you have been a good child. Now you get to focus on yourself and your own family. Avoid too much coffee, too much booze, too many cookies and donuts as you work on the aftermath and all the changes. Keep your eyes on the prize.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know what you mean about loss leaving this odd openness in your schedule. I experienced the same with the loss of my parents. Take care of yourself.
