I don't know if I'm in ketosis or not, but I do know this, after tracking stuff and paying attention for months: I feel best (and have the best results) when I stick to low carb, high fat, and moderate protein, avoid gluten, and keep dairy, sugar, and alcohol to a minimum. I had one blowout day this week -- 3100 calories -- but still kept my carbs low, and I'm still losing weight and feeling well. I'm only moderately disciplined, so this low-carb approach has the added benefit of repressing cravings and making me happier and less restless.
187.0 lb Lost so far: 28.0 lb.    Still to go: 9.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

One well-respected science writer pointed out that every diet restricts carbohydrates to varying degrees because all of them reduce (if not eliminate) the empty-calorie food items (chips, fries, sweets). He said the logical conclusion would be that restricting carbohydrates is the main way people lose weight. I've experienced the same things as you by eating LCHF, though have found that a little less fat, a little more protein works better for me. And really, isn't it so easy to do?
