OMW! These past 3 days of sanding have been a trial of patience, endurance and pain. I thought the scraping and stripping was bad. NOOOOOO. Not by half. There were some breaks on the stripping days. Last 3 have been 10 hrs a day the first, 12 hours on the second and yesterday I pushed to finish and it was 13+ hours I worked with 5 min breaks every hour. My hands are visibly swollen as well as my knees. Then there is my left hip which is so tender that the skin feels bruised. But I got it done and that is ultimately what counts.

A high of 59°F today. But at least today is dryer than yesterday. We got 3-4 inches of rain in a single 24 hr period. Need it dry to apply the layers of polyurethane. Hoping to have enough for 5 coats 4 to be sure. So another long day but with a little more freedom. I have a mop yo apply it but first i have to rid the room and most of the floors of dust as to not track it. So I am off for another long day.

Ty was in trouble again (at home not school) and made the day that much more stressful for all of us. Major trust issues. I forgot and left the shop unlocked and when he got home from school he snuck his tablet and went to his room. 2 Days ago he broke his glasses, mad that he got in trouble then for leaving the yard and when he was grounded to it got caught out of it. And I told him yesterday he had to stay in his room and clean until he found his missing spare pair. He refused then he refused to go to sleep. Was up until well after midnight. Thus so was I. I finished working at 9 30 and all I wanted was a shower and bed. Tired and more tired of being Pigpen at that point then I could not sleep knowing he was still up. I am hoping he has a good day at school.

Why not take a break? The work isn't going anywhere and I know you want your reno/home to look great. Be proud of what you have accomplished! Sorry to read Ty is at it, again. Sending a virtual vacation, massage and anything else you need at the moment.

I'll be so happy for you when you're done with your reno! Your body will need the break. Isn't it amazing how our kids can frustrate us and make us so mad, but we still hope they have a good day and worry about them? I hope you both have a good day!

Hi Pterath. I have done some simple wood finishing in the past. This is only a suggestion, but you might want to wait until the moisture from the rain has subsided before you start applying the polyurethane. Will you apply the polyurethane using a brush or rags? I haven't used polyurethane in a long time. Since we moved here 10 yrs. ago, once a year, in the Fall, I use Cabot Australian Timber Oil in Natural, inside and out, on the front and back doors. Sorry you are in so much pain.

was dry today and humidity moderate. Used a fleece mop to apply on 3rd coat have several more to do will wait 10 hours between final coats and then 220 grit sand and then final coat. long day again. lost track of everything. I have no heat in the house til i get the reno done it will be in the 30-40 tonight.... that means colder days too. and i have to have the windows open for all the stink and fumes. muddlign through today was less physically demanding at least. alot of cleaning and mopping on a coat only took 10 mins.

Its a process. When you finish I hope someone buys you a "Shoes Off" sign. Sorry, you're in for a cold evening. When I'm working will the timber oil I use rags on the doors and teenie tiny brushes around the glass inserts.

Kelly, you are probably asleep as it's 10:30 central. Hope you stay warm and had a good night's sleep. Space heaters or something?
