BuffyBear's Journal, 08 August 2011

Got a wake-up call at the mall Saturday! I must have tried on a dozen tops and they were all too tight at my midsection ("muffin top"). Shows how far I still need to go.

Don't fret, I've given away so many clothes because there just a little "too snug" in the midsection... but look at it this way, this gives you a goal of some "new clothes" once the midsection goes away, and it will... Stay positive !

I know what you mean girl...but one size up is noting to be upset about I have to wear a bigger size due to my shoulders...and I wear a body sliming suit...and yes even in this heat..as it breaths and I don't even feel it..its just enough to make me look better and not jiggle have a great day....Bren

I had the same problem this weekend. I saw so many cute tops when we were school clothes shopping and I refused to buy any of them because I knew I would see fluffy bits. Just think of how rewarding it's going to be when we see the fluffy bits disappear and use it as motivation!

Notfast - You are right - and (thinking positive) the midsection will go away!

Bren - I have a collection of Spanx (and clones) too. Just refuse to wear them in the summer.

Liltagirl - Not sure if it is fluffy bits or puffy mounds.

Hi Buffy, at least you tried some on! You did good!! It's too darn hot for spanx & the like. Who designs these clothes anyway, don't they realize WHO actually wears them? I try not to get too excited about the size tag, nothing is consistant anyway. One brands size 16 is anothers 14 or a different ones 18. I wish the sizing would be more standardized from company to company. (Easier said than done, I know!!) Hope you have a great day by staying motivated!!

Good for you trying on some new styles! However, the tight midriff is just the "style" right now and I don't think it's meant to fit or flatter anyone. I know I'll sound like an old coot-ette, but have you seen some of the tops that HS and college gals are wearing?? They're all way too tight in the mid-section and they don't flatter even the most "average" feminine figure. I've got nothing against form-fitting clothing, but I think there's some evil designer out there sitting back and laughing at the overly-tight, ill-fitting tops made of cheap material that he/she can get the American woman to buy and wear.

GG and Sandy - I hear you on those designers. Right now about the only "hot new designs" I'm in right now could easily be mistaken for maternity tops. Oh well - looks like another winter of layers and Spanx.

PS - Thanks for all of your encouragement!
