I almost made it through the week getting early morning workouts in, but I slept in today. My little dog who has back issues has not been sleeping well at night and with the kids going back to school he's having a hard time getting back to the routine I think. He usually alternates nights sleeping with the kids, but for some reason he won't sleep in my son's room now. It could be the steroids he's on that are not letting him sleep. He slept in my bed last night and was restless, panting, wanting to lick the bed, whining, just anything but sleeping, so I didn't sleep. I needed the extra time in bed this morning and I should be able to get my workout in this evening, so I'm not going to be too hard on myself.

Last night I went for a walk and did a Zombie Run app. It was kind of fun and silly, I'm going to try to do it this weekend and actually run with it, maybe the zombies will chase me. ;) If I can do that and get my scheduled workouts in it should be an active weekend.

My eating hasn't been the greatest this week, but I'm keeping my lunches and snacks at work mostly in check. Dinner and night snacking are always hard for me. I am actually hungry at work for things like fruit and veggies, then I get home and it's like all I want is junk. I guess at least most of my day is spent eating healthy, so I just need to work on that time home after work. I'm going to try to find some make ahead dinner ideas so that I'm not feeling rushed after work and there are no excuses to make junk. This is why Pintrest exists I guess. :)

It's been a super busy week and I'm so ready for the weekend!! Have a great Friday and a great weekend everyone!!

When you come home from work you are tired and your brain just wants sugar and carbs, that's what's keeping him/you awake. That's why you are making the wrong food choices. Maybe a healthy snack on your way home would help you with the cravings for junk food. You wouldn't be starving that way, that's when we'll eat whatever is in front of us.

Snezica has great advice about eating a protein snack on the way home - even like string cheese - if you can do dairy - would help take the edge off.

The problem is that I do eat a snack before I go home every day trying to keep the junk monster away, I just still eat junk when I'm home. I think my junk eating is more out of routine or habit than anything, and the feeling that I don't have time to make something healthy. It takes just as long, probably less time, to grill chicken as it does to cook pizza, so I need to just make healthy eating a priority and get my hubby on board. Most nights I don't come home starving, unless it's really late when we eat dinner, but the idea of cooking isn't appealing. I'm thinking make ahead meals or even just prepped ahead may be the way to go, no excuses if it's ready to go. :)

Ahh..yes, I get home from work between 7:30-8:00pm and ussually do not want to cook from scratch. I usually have my main protein in a pain with seasonings ready to go and my husband outs it in the oven for me so it is ready when I arrive. I pre-make cauliflower mashed "potstoes" and just microwave to heat. I eat the same thing all the time but I do not get bored.

Make ahead meals or even crock pot meals might be a great idea. I also plan a "leftover" night on an especially busy day and plan ahead what I'm going to eat for dinner that night. Go home and heat it up. Old habits die hard, it isn't easy to retrain but I know you can. Have a good weekend Mary :)

Mars, I am there too. Now eating healthy all day and the at night out comes the junk. I am work in on it, little baby steps. Maybe instead of changing over night. Pick one particular junk like pizza and say okay this week this is my latest day and that is pizza night and only keep enough frozen pizza for that night. My actually go to meals is chicken breast because you can this it in the pan, put some water on for steamed green beans or carrots and then do chores while everything cooks and only check it a few times.
