Pterath's Journal, 30 July 2015

Ok so it is Melt the Fat OFF Week, in my neck of the woods and I know many of you have been already experiencing the same phenomenon for a while now already. Just not usually this wet and humid and HOT all at the same time here in Maine. Wet normally = cooler weather up here but thus far this week we have not gotten the rain that has fallen in all the cardinal direction around us. Thus, we do have a huge dose of humidity (75%) and upper 80s for most of the next 5 days. Which I think helped peak my crankiness level these past few days.

I know I should walk esp right now when it is a tad bit cooler in the morning but I just gonna work instead and sweat of the pounds toiling away on the house to keep on the schedule I think needs to be kept. I need this done and normalcy to start to return that and I have a lot of work that I need to finish for the business. AND I JUST WANT IT DONE!

Jeri, I talked to my hubby about getting a TRX/woos trainer and he will not let me have one because he does not want holes in his new ceilings and walls. :( I am still trying to sell him on it. He wants me to start at the gym and stick to it and anything I can do on a mat here before buying any equipment. So, I guess that is a reasonable request.

So, this week I know I need some levity to get me through because the heat index makes it feel like everything is harder and heavier right now, including me....

Love your cartoons!! Believe me I get the humidity and the affects of the heat index on your system and wanting to get things done before it gets too hot. You probably don't have AC as you don't need it often there. It's cool outside this am 65 or so but the air so think you can hardly breathe. Reasonable request from the DH re: the gym. I'm good with a simple bracket on my ceiling, just takes a second to hook the trainer up. No DH to consult LOL. It's silver so fits in with my nickel hardware on the doors, lamps etc.

Yeah I figure it as well but there will be time in the winter that the gym will close because of school closings etc.... so I wanted a back up... my hardware/lamps/accessories is oil rubbed bronze or wrought iron. But I will start on that path I have been watching some of the you tube videos off and on maybe 1 a day just to get a feel for it and it looks like it might help me stretch better, thus my investigation. But I can be patient. And our funds are quickly dwindling with the reno. Hubby says no gifts for 27 years.... lol this is it, the new kitchen and all previous reno projects. It is inappropriate for me to say how else I can *work* it off. LOL

Haha! LOVE this post. :) It's been really hot here too (100s). It makes it hard to exercise outside. I think I need to veterinarian diet! LOL Hope you have a super duper awesome day my friend!!!

Nice drop, usually people buy exercise equipment and don't use it at all. Try out the gym first and see if you stick with it for a few months/ a year, maybe then your husband will reconsider.

Good point Snezica, I bought mine because I loved the TRX at the gym, it was broken for awhile so really missed it. Then learned more about the different things you can do on it and decided it was a good investment for me. The location at the gym limits what you can do. The $200+ price tag for it was out of my range so went hunting to see if there were other options. So far it is good as I'm using it often, hopefully I will continue. I can tell a difference in my body after just a few weeks.

Kelly, you might consider a set of kettle balls for those non gym days. No brackets in the ceiling LOL and not really expensive, lots of videos on youtube as well. I love love mine. Am trying to do both several times a week even if I get to the gym. I bought a set of 3 5#, 10# and 15# at Aldi's for less than $20.00 and another more compact 10# one for my desk @ work at a freight salvage store for $5.00.

From Maine, too! I hate this weather! 75 all summer sounds good to me! I got my hike in at 8:30, but still sweet my butt off!AND the horse flies were horrid! I think the swarm could quit possible kill a small dog! I'm bring my daughter to OOB later, hopefully it will provide some relieve! Hope you have a great day!

Rae-Ann Old Orchard Beach is great but over 2 hrs for me. I am in the Western Mts. I would love 75 all summer!!!! And to be honest it has not been that bad probably why it is affecting me so much. Not to mention losing another 40 lbs might help. LOL

Jeri, I have been looking at kettle bells for a while too I just need to find some that are as affordable as you did. But waiting to drop that money after the reno is done. Join the gym then add a few other things over time. Being logical about it but I am in impatient mode for everything these days. LOL I think the reno has gotten the better of me.

Rubber gloves fill with sweat at these temps. I tell you melting it off!

If you have Aldi's around they carry them in January, not sure if you can order them online. I know a ways off. Walmart you can order online with in store free delivery, if you have one handy. I definitely get not adding anything until the reno quits eating away at the $$$$. right about rubber gloves, I try them outside in the summer when I'm working on the corner with the poison weeds. I usually give up.

Well I have been using caustic chemical to eat through lead paint and there is not other option these are supposed to be chemical resistant but they have no lining and so I put a pair of cotton gloves on the inside and could wring them out after an hours work. :P YUCK

No Aldi's nearby either. Closest is 30+ miles I think. I will keep looking we have a few discounters that get stuff in now and again so I will keep an eye out for them to catch it cheap.

With all the work you are doing daily on your renovations, I am not sure you need to worry about workout equipment! I am exhausted just reading about everything you have been accomplishing. :)

Izzy I too am exhausted. I want to be done!!!!

Me also Izzy. Kelly, I hope your day is going better than mine. Kitchen track light ground wire falls out, they tell me to take it back, no way to fix it, store is nearly 15 miles. The store does not have the same light, get a different one, the screws are too short, have to go buy longer ones. To get the same one another long trek, at least this one should be easier to install if the new screws fit. Stopped and having a ham sandwich as the entire kitchen's power is off. 45 min job is now @ 4+ hours. LOL such is life. A plus my parrot's new bird cage showed up several days earlier than I expected.. another thing to put together. ;;)))
