I'm exhausted!! WHEW!!! It's no wonder my SIL is skinny!! 7 hours later and my ceiling fan and light fixture is finally installed in my dining room, the directions said 45 minutes installation time???? It still has an issue that may be related to a mystery red wire as it doesn't seem to connect to my wall switch. SIL said to tape it up and not use it as it was an odd 4th wire, he is my electrician in the family. I called him earlier for advice. It works fine using the pull chains. Have a message into him about that. 2nd light fixture is NOT getting done today... ;(((

I still want to dis-assemble my dining room table and move it and the chairs out to my already packed messy garage and put up my smaller round table once I have the floor cleaned. So taking a break and watching my fan spin. YAY!! the old one that came with the house didn't work right screeched like crazy and only 2 of the 4 sockets worked. Foreclosed house so everything was as-is.

I feel your pain in my own way, my BIL does my electrical. Ron can but they need the $$ so we are sending work his way.

Love ceiling fans - we have one in our bedroom and it really helps move the cool air!

Glen, no need to be fancy, I'd lose the dang remote. LOL HCB I do also, they are a plus here in this part of the country. I don't get it on the remodel shows they always get rid of the fans as not a good thing. They help the cooling and heating bills. First thing I did when I bought my house had ceiling fans put in the bedrooms. Mine is on all year long every night. Just slowly catching up the rest of the house. I'm putting them in instead of paying someone like I did for the bedrooms. The guy did a bunch of work for me initially for not many $$$.

My SiL is 2 hours away otherwise I'd have him do that work, he re-did much of my basement new ceilings, moved my laundry room, added a bunch of power there and it included updating all the main circuit breakers etc. a couple years ago. He is swamped as is so MIL would come in as an extra, sometime......LOL. He thinks it's cool that I do a lot on my own as most 66 yo women wouldn't, he taught me some basic electrical when he was working on my basement. He always laughs when I call him for help and is pretty patient as he knows my limited knowledge. He does say I do ask intelligent questions so that makes me feel good.

The table is tipped over, not taken apart, I'm going to bed shortly everything else will wait for morning... Even the crazy pup is crashed, I think she is recovering from the triplet onslaught. she loved all the attention but she is dang tired.

Jerri.... you're amazing. I've always wondered if I could do the things you do.

Kathy, you can do it, anyone can do it. Just decide you can and learn a bit first, follow directions, swear a lot, and have beer or a glass of wine when it seems like it's going to get you.. LOL. Have a little patience and decide you will accomplish it. I decided awhile back why is it we(females) think that men can do all these house projects ?? Most men have no clue what they are doing and end up trying to do them anyway. MMMM lots of failed Diy projects. Why can't I do them as well? I have a brain. I can read the how to books or lately watch how to videos and understand them. I can read directions (most men don't at least in my experience), it may take me awhile but it feels good to get them done. I learn lot along the way so next time I do something similar it's easier. I have my limits, I don't do roofs and I am aware of strength issues etc, like not replacing the whole dang front door frame and all, I don't have the tools and it needed more than one person.
