Lots of Zumba! I went to a 3-hour Salsa Jam Session yesterday; my Jawbone Up fitness tracker said I'd burned 1600 calories. I only ate a few of my energy protein bites during a break, since it was pretty intense. On the drive home, I ate the rest of what I brought to share, maybe 10 all together. The scale was up a little this morning. Some of my friends keep telling me to gain weight, just like my doctor did. I plan on doing so, eating healthy foods. I need more energy, so I can fit in a BodyPump class now and then. I think my body needs more fuel...

Yes - you are burning tons of calories with the exercise. Have you considered eating avocado, making protein shakes with whole milk or almond milk, tablespoons of almond butter, etc., or eating almonds, etc. They all have great health benefits with good calories and healthy fats. Fat actually gives longer lasting fuel - the carbs give glucose which we run through pretty quickly.

HCB, I do add nut butter to some of my smoothies, eat nuts, avocado, eat nut butter (usually almond) on toast, or mixed with greek yogurt as a dip... I've also been making my own protein energy bites that use nuts, nut butter, oats, dried fruits, etc. My neurologist thought that my body composition is good; this after giving me a thorough exam, and having known me since 2009. My partner thinks I'm too thin. I'm happy with my size and shape (ignoring the loose skin), though I do wish I had a wee bit more padding on bones that I tend to knock into things with. Not much to be done about my elbows and shins, though. I bought 3 avocados today; we split one with dinner tonight. I'm making some of my own salad dressing using extra virgin olive oil; I use hemp seeds in veggie burgers I make. I'll even things out. It's all a learning experience. Life is! I'll just find the right WOE for me. :)
