HerStrawberri's Journal, 01 August 2011

Start of a new month. I ended July with 10.8 lbs lost. Not bad. I averaged more then 2 lbs a week. I'm happy for that progress. My goal right now is to get below 300. I'm so determined to break that plane. Once it's broke, I'm NEVER going back. It's so embarressing weighing that much. I KNOW I'm tall and I will never be in the low 1 hundo's but my weight right now is UNacceptable. I carry my weight well and that's SUCH a blessing. I guess I'm becoming a bit obsessed with getting below 300 but...honestly....i don't care. I do NOT want to be the biggest girl in nursing school and be thought of as 'unhealthy'. It's going to be hard enough as it is. I know I can do this. The HEALTHY way.

I've fallen back into not eating enough. I need to get my cals back up over 1500. I'm just not hungry and I've become obsessed with my food intake as well. Breaking the habit of thinking the less you eat the more weight you loose is V-E-R-Y hard to do. At least for me. BUT...I'm determined to do this. I need to stay OUT of my head. I'm going to make mini-goals for myself for this month. i think it will help me become a bit more healhty mentally. That seems to be my biggest obstacles. SOooo...here is the list I have so far:

1~Look into the full length mirror and say 5 nice things. EVERYDAY!

2~Eat at least 1500 cals a day.

3~More activity.

4~NO negitive comments

5~Loose 17 lbs!!! (to get below 300 then obviously the next 100)

I've become so much more active this past month. I do stuff but never know how to enter it in the exercise thingy so I don't do it. I don't really know how many cals I'm buring during the day...hopefully a good amount. I know my BMR is around 2600 but other then that I have no idea. I looked into getting one of those body bug things but they are very expensive. i wish there was an easier way to track my cals burned daily.

My P and I went to Kohls yesterday. i didn't look into the stupid pillar mirror at ALL. not sure of it was because she was with me and we were having fun or if I'm just over them now. I didn't do it, though, and that felt good. I actually got some t-shirts and didn't have to worry if they would fit me or not. ( I don't try on clothes at kohls) Granted they were guys and still really big, BUT I KNOW they will fit. yay! small steps!

I hope everyone has a great month of weight loss and new healthy habits!

You could invest in a heart rate monitor to tell you exactly how much you're burning. Increasing your activity is a super plus and i love Number 1 on your list :) Win for beating that pillar mirror. Good luck on your goals :) and Happy monday!

You can do it! You are focused and you already know what to do so do it. :o) Regaring eating enough I was just reading Susan Powters "Stop the insanity". She compares diets with car races. The challenge is to drive your car from NY to Vegas. You can pack everything, clothes, partner, whatever you want. The only thing you are not allwed is fuel! Now we all know we will not make this. You need fuel to drive and food is our body's fuel. Without it nothing happens. Courage! :o)

Huge congrats, Dawn. Try nuts and cheese or maybe protein shakes to help get the calories up. That and fish oil help me.

I use the olive oil for my extra calories, then i make sure to eat the juices from the meat, yeah sounds gross but the flavor is yummy and we ARE supposed to be using fat for fuel, also don't use the leanest meat either, the extra calories are in the fat!I'm just so goll darn proud of you for learning how to eat better, wish i had learned it at your age instead of at my age!

Hi there Dawn very good job on your loss and I like your goals. Do try to use the exercise diary, not only does it help you keep track of your activity, when you look at the big picture it gives you a ego boost and therefore increases your motivation. I would be happy to help with any questions and there is a help section here on fs as well. Here's to August and to you seeing your next goal!

Thank you so much everyone! I'm trying to tweak some things this week... eating breakfast earlier, drinking water before I eat, MORE cals. I want to be on a good schedule before school starts. That way, when i get all stressy with school my food will be down pat and will be 'habit'. Thank you all so much for all the wonderful suggestions!
