We increased our walk to 2.6 miles today. I was really light on steps since I was driving most of today, about 150 miles total. (Deliveries/pick ups). I am sore though. I also mapped out our next goal for next week. It will increase to 3 miles and then in about 2 more weeks 3.5 miles. That will cover us for the 5k training. After we hit our walking goal for at least 2 weeks at 3.5 miles we will increase speed. Maybe jog for 5 minutes and then walk for 5 minutes, and slowly increase it to more jogging time. After jogging the whole thing for 2 weeks we'll work on running it. Same thing jog for 5 then run for 5. I think I'll need to get my son new sneakers. My hubby took him shopping a few months ago and let him get sneakers a little big for him. They are fine for walking but jogging/running not so much. I need to research guys running shoes. I want a pair that will be comfy for him and I'll get them fitted to him. Hopefully reasonably priced.
One other thing, does anyone know how to get a lab into the water? My dog is scared of going into the water. I mean petrified of going into the water. I do not know what happened before we got him but it could not have been good for this reaction. My mom dragged him in (before I could stop her) and he almost walked on the water he was trying to get out so fast. I got him a kiddie pool today but really don't know what else to do. Thanks!

It's about to pour here too. I was only going to go for a mile but the weather convinced me that a 2nd walk of 2 miles later may not be possible. I may like my treadmill but walking outside with my son and dog beat that any day.

I agree I wish I could but i have no place in the house for a treadmill (own one) and I abhor them. Now a recumbant bike or my leslie sanson dvds are good, wish I had place for the former but the business and remodel come first. And the dvd player is collecting dust and i have zero room to even do the video anyway - my furniture cannot be in the reno area so it is whereever it would fit... so tonight I hit the goal my vivofit set for me so that is fine and it is still over 8k just not 10k. So I just have to, "suck it up and deal, princess," something I frequently say to my kids.... lol I am telling myself that tonight. Hoping tomorrow is a better day!

I say that too. Suck it up princess (to myself) The only reason I have the treadmill is it fits in the carport and I got it for 10 bucks at a yard sale. Someone was asking 100 all day but he was closing up and his wife would have killed him if he brought it back in the house. He even loaded it in my car. I always forget my tv as a place to exercise. I have dvds and they even have free exercise videos on demand. I must look into that again. I love my vivofit!
