BuffyBear's Journal, 06 June 2015

Really went off the deep end this week. It happens about this time every year because of the stress and long hours at work. I go back to the old habit of "comfort eating".

So you'd think by now I'd know how to deal with this? I did start Friday by using my lunch hour to stock the office refrigerator with little packs of almonds, cheese, sugar free jello, etc. Since I know I'm going to be snacking it helps to have good things available to snack on.

As for evening meals, I should start using my weekends to shop, prep and plan. Having pre-planned, semi prepared meals will be a big help in sticking to my WOE.

OK - that is my plan for the week. Stress be damned!

You can do this Buffy!! Get some watermelon if there is some available and if it's in your plan. It has been showing up again in the stores here since Memorial Day. Drink water, some calming herbal tea, I have one called relax (a blend from a local tea store), it's so yummy and it does help.

Wholefoodnut - You just went through your stressful phase at work so you would know. We are starting to get some beautiful cantaloup showing up in the farmer's market. Ah - summer!

Melons are always good. I haven't been to the Sat am farmer's markets here except once to buy plants as it keeps raining. We go through the stressful craziness every year also. December through April is nuts!! After awhile it's just roll with it, mine this year was different because I was loaned to other fund companies, not the one I'm really comfortable with. Celebrate when it's over.

CatHerder - You sound like my boss. He says we need to deal with this (stacks on my desk) one piece of paper at a time. Then he gives me 10 more projects.

I hate stress..can't live with it and life is not possible without it it seems..

Stay in the moment and just do whatever is in front of you at any given moment. It relieves some of that anticipatory stress. Love stocking the fridge with good stuff. Have you tried drinking green tea? It kills my appetite...

You can do this Buffy. I also plan a vacation week in May after tax season, and take a long weekend off in the midst of it.

You WILL do this! Get cooking this weekend so that during your stressful week, you can come home and have a healthy meal ready to pull out of the fridge. I like that you are getting some snacks stocked up at work. Make sure you drink a lot of water, too. :)

Sister, I hear you loud and clear! We have worked 6 weeks without a day off...and I am stressed to the max! We have entered out BUSY season and things get a bit rough for a couple of months. So, I had to load our little office fridge with snacks and foods that I could eat at lunch while my hands and pilots eat pizza, chicken fried steaks, etc. I also am struggling with suppers as I just don't have time to really cook. Our tiny town has 2 cafes...both Mexican/Pizza so it isn't a matter of just grabbing something. I am planning to pick up some small steaks, veggies, salad makings, etc. this weekend and hopefully, next week I will be better prepared. You take care of yourself....stress makes all this a bit harder but we aren't the first to go through with it...nor will we be the last. I'll be thinking of you....

Been there Gwen, but I was the basic manager for our restaurant, even though it was a family business. At least I could go back and cook or order a healthy meal now and then though my kids were shuffled between babysitters. I would take food home from work for the kids and babysitters. 100 hours a week working was not nice especially not good for my children.

I read your post and wanted to congratulate you! just recognizing that this particular time is stressful for you and knowing you need to work a bit harder to find "other comforts" is such a huge step! 👍👍. Keep going and congratulate yourself for the small successes! a bunch of little steps will get you to your goals! 😉😉
