the lovely fluctuation that everyone hates so much. You can weigh one thing in the morning and be up by 5lbs at the end of the day! Our crazy bodies lol. Water, muscle, sodium...they all add up. At the same time, I can weigh one thing when I wake up, make a poo and be DOWN as much as 2lbs! :-) So I tend to weigh AFTER rather than before if I can lol

I feel your pain. Push mowing an acre riding exercise bike for 12 miles, walking 6 miles and living on under 1000 calories a day... Plus I work 6 hours a day and am on my feet. Its a I refuse to weigh myself except once every week or so otherwise I get distressed then eat because "whats the point" if it doesn't work. I have lost 15 lbs and gained 2 lbs. Hang in there. only weigh in once a week or less!

I feel like it's much easier for men to lose weight than it is for women. Their bodies are built much different and they gain muscle faster. I wish it wasn't this hard for us ladies!!! I had a goal of losing 10lbs in 13 weeks...we'll I'm at week 9 and have only lost ALMOST 5lbs. Then I went back up by a tad. I hate it. So now I have to change my goal and aim to lose 3lbs by the end of this month, which would be 8lbs in 13 weeks. I've done better than that in the past....losing 1lb per week but I haven't been able to do that this time around. I guess the muscle gaining is preventing the scale from moving, so I'm trying to be satisfied with my measurements that are decreasing.

No way you gained 2 pounds. Please don't torture yourself with daily weigh-ins--you'll drive yourself crazy and it's water/food still in your body. Try once a week, always same day of the week and time. Stress also causes water retention....

Agree with Catolita, what you do one day isn't reflected that day if you weigh in. If you've done well it will show up, patience :)

I've had this happen to me several times. it's gone again the next day or day after. More than likely just water. 8.3 pounds a gallon, so if you drink a lot it sometimes hangs around.

The scale is never right! That's how!

this is one reason I never weigh in the day after a hard workout. Water weight! I already drink a lot of water as it is...(96oz a day).

a scale is probably only accurate to +- 1-1.2%, so you might see a lot of fluctuation due to that.

I weighed in at the morning and was 266. When I stepped on the scale at bed time and was over 270... Next morning, 269. Our bodies seem to retain and release whenever it feels like it. I had to stop beating myself up every time I looked at the scale. It was really counter productive. I felt like I was busting my ass for no reason. But I keep at it. But maybe a week will go by and I will crap my pants because I will be 5 pounds lighter than I was the week before. Just keep rockin' it.

I am with you. The scale to me is plus or minus 3 pounds for what ever reason. I just know that it is so important to put two days together of clean eating and, here is the kicker……Go to bed hungry!!! Im serious. Get to know what that feeling is like and go to bed that way. I swear by Oden's beard after two days of that and exercise you will weigh less. Its all about the math so track it, write it down and wrap it with a bow. Use this sites tools to log it all in. Great site and with great people like you.

Weigh yourself ONCE A WEEK, MAX. The scale is not your friend, and will only discourage you on those days you pull in a couple more pounds for any of the reasons these smart losers have already stated. Your jeans will tell you everything you need to know about your weight loss progress....

I typically weigh on Saturdays. But if I don't see a loss in a week, I do tend to keep weighing every 2 days until I see another loss. Then I wait a week again.

I also agree with ashock34....I actually like going to bed feeling hungry because that means I did well. I like to get a nice healthy dinner, under 400 calories, and eat it before 6:30. The kids go to bed at 8 and I might BE in my bed around 9:30/10 but I don't actually fall asleep til after 11.

Keep an eye on salt intake. Too much and it will hold on to water. It takes about 3 dayus to get rid of the wt with adequate water intake.
