I am going to get away from running for a bit and focus on weights and yoga. If what you are doing isn't working, do something different,is how I look at it. I am starting to see quite a bit more definition in my jelly arms and feel stronger.

I've read that it's good to change things up and cross train anyway, so your way of thinking is good! Glad you're starting to notice a difference.

weights rock - lean body mass burns more calories sitting around doing nothing!

It's good to change things up some just for variety. I need to do that. Good plan.

You are a wise lady to be able to figure out when YOU need to change....WINSTON CHURCHILL once said: "To improve is to change. To be perfect is to change often!" Of course here on FS, we are just seeking PROGRESS not perfection. :)

Whatever you are doing I know you won't be a couch potato. You'll have to share a before and after of your arms.

You are right on that....doing the same and getting the same results, is a no brainer. I think a lot of us are trying to shake things up a bit. We had a winter routine and now it is a different season and time for a change. Will be anxious to see what you come up with....

For what your doing, something is very wrong. I looked at your intake and noticed your still getting Calorie Free Dressing, and Sugar Free Syrup. Artificial sweeteners do not work well with high fat diet because of a few reasons. Your body thinks it is getting sugar and releases insulin which instead of burning the fat, it gets broken down into fat. Thus, you will have to work twice as hard to lose weight. Another issue with artificial sweeteners is that kills the important bacteria in your small intestines that is vital to digesting the important nutrients, minerals, and vitamins that your body is asking for. When your body does not get the vital nutrients, it can only say... hey I am hungry and hope that you give it the nutrients it needs. I believe this because when I was in the intensive weight loss class by the VA, as each week passed by, there were less and less participants trying to lose weight. Something I noticed were the ones that gave up much faster were the ones who did not want to give up the artificial sweeteners. They were fighting a losing battle. This is why diets don't work. I mean you can go on a diet and fight the hunger for months but unless you go to the source and defeat it, the hunger will win all the time. I defeated my hunger by realizing what I was dong wrong and fixing it.

So you are saying Midnightoil that if I skip my twice a week artificial sweetener condiments I will lose weight twice as fast? I guess I am confused by what you meant since I am not hungry and losing consistently? My post was about switching up my exercise for muscle gains?

Nichol, I use them now and then also: much less than I used to. I figure he is giving good info for many who may be reading this. I think you are doing great!!

You are probably right WFN. I just thought I was misreading it. It is certainly true that if you are hungry all the time its very difficult to stick to any way of eating. I was just saying to someone else that when my veggies are ready to pick it will be very hard to resist. I planted way too many potatoes and cucumbers this year. I may have to look into root cellaring lol or selling them at the farmers market.
