Babysmom's Journal, 24 May 2015

Had one day last week....Wednesday...where I felt a little sorry for myself...a little discouraged...so after a month of eating perfectly and only losing 5 lbs on induction in that month, I crashed and ate two brownines, one cookie and an ice cream for supper...didn't go over calories but sure went over carbs...back on track the next day and have not dared to get on scales since... I think I will wait till clothes at least feel looser before I dare to get on again...I get so discouraged when not losing at least a little and even more discouraged when I gain ... measurements have not changed at all and my belly is still wiggly and soft... I do not like it at all... I am fit, I am strong, but my body will not change... Decided a few days ago to try for Ongoing Weightloss instead of Induction, have some almond butter (which I have been missing so very much) on top of my flax / chia muffin in a minutes. See where that takes me. Anyone is welcome to take a peek at my food log and give ideas.

Well you are losing, it just isn't as fast as you would like. You need to change your thinking. Be in this for the long haul. Live your life, enjoy a treat now and again and keep it at. Five pounds a month will add up to 60lbs in a year. You are doing great. If you switch diets, it's important to give yourself time to transition, especially if you are adding carbs back in. You can sometimes see an initial gain, not from fat but your body holding water from the carbs. Kick up your exercise plan (if you are able). Even walking daily outside is awesome. Anything helps.

You are not alone in the boat....you can read my entry from yesterday and see exactly what happens when someone goes HOG WILD. Suzi161 is dead on right. In order for this lifestyle to work, we must remember that it isn't a competition and that each of us loses at their own rate. Someone once told me to think like a race horse...put my blinders on to what the others are doing and head for the finish line. I struggle with feeling like it isn't happening fast enough, etc. and I get terribly frustrated. I get quite upset with myself when I do something stupid that only holds me back...I have to remember that "slow and steady wins the race." You have done well...and will continue I am sure.

I also was going to suggest increasing the variety of any movement you do - riding is great but possible start walking and drinking extra water.

I agree with Suzi, Gwen and HCB. Most of us look at this as a lifestyle change, not a diet, and a journey we will be on forever. We have to accept when the scale doesn't move, or our clothes aren't looser, and keep on doing what we know works. There will always be peaks and valleys. When you are feeling discouraged, come here first, before eating cookies and ice cream for dinner, we will support you and try to get you through.

The self hatred is counter productive at this point. I am here with you and reading your journal entry tells me that this was just emotional eating. I am not a psychologist but ask yourself one simple question. What was your feel at the moment you turned to all the sweets? Now that you have honestly sat in reflection over this question. Take steps to remove such temptations from your life until such time you can respectfully indulge with self control. There is a strategy that I find useful. When you get urges to over indulge in counter productive foods. Take a look around you immediate surroundings. If their is clutter, half finished projects, clothing that needs to be put up or put away or washed. Get up start clearing the space around you and really make an effort to get it totally clean and clear. Before you realize it you no longer have those urges and you have physically moved your body. My heart is with you as I have been there also. Today is a new day and a new beginning no more looking backward. Look towards the dawn of a new you. Also in the future reward yourself with things other than food. For every pound you shed go out and buy a new lipstick, a bottle of perfume, or get a pedicure or manicure. Honor the woman that is within you and fight the good fight to birth her into this world here and now.

Thank you ladies... I needed a pep talk.... I do get off and walk and run with my pony while out riding (usually half my time out with her) ...I mow my lawns for 5 hours once a week with a non self propelled push mower... I do my physique 57 DVD (geared to women in 20s / 30s and I am 63) two / three times a week... my husband says "I don't see how you can possibly be over weight with how active you are" But I am... After that day I got back on track and am ok...but still wonder what I can do differently to speed up things... but I am in a better frame of mind so.... moving on! Got some Sheretaki Noodles and that usually helps me feel like I am eating comfort food and my MIMs help a lot especially when I put pumpkin and a little stivia in them...
