Noah Counte's Journal, 25 April 2015

I had a weird experience in the past couple of days.

I don't weigh myself often, as a rule, but I was weighed Thursday, Friday, and today (Saturday). Thursday morning, I weighed 220, Friday morning I weighed 225, and today I again weigh 220. I fasted Wednesday into Thursday, and took my family to the local Chinese buffet Thursday evening. I didn't eat rice, I didn't eat dessert, I had a spring roll, but no other deep fried stuff. I had some chicken and broccoli (probably stir-fried), some seafood thing (probably stir-fried), and some veggies (probably stir-fried). I'd have to guess at calories, but it wasn't a lot of food. So, where did those five pounds come from? And where did they go? On of the reasons I don't weigh myself every day, is because of fluctuations. Five pounds seems a lot to me, though.

I'm guessing salt, but I don't know. Weird.

Chinese food has a lot of sodium (like most restaurant food) and can make us retain water. Our bodies are made up of 60% water and our weight can go up and down hourly. Google "why the scale lies" for insight.

Thanks for this. I didn't think the scale lied :P I assumed it was me, I was just taken aback by the size of the fluctuation.
