I'm getting a little confused because the number is going up but my clothes are getting looser and people are commenting that I'm losing weight.

You can lose fat and not see the scale move or even see a temporary gain. If you are exercising, the muscles can retain water to help them heal. Google "why the scale lies" for insight. When the muscle retain water, the scale can show a temporary gain. It could also be sodium or one of many other factors masking your loss on the scale. You know you are getting smaller so you know you are doing something right. The scale is only one way to measure weight loss.
