tamzin79's Journal, 15 April 2015

This week has not been one for personal best, I got the call from the hospital and I am having surgery in 3 weeks EEEK
So I have had a few mini freakouts and inhaled far to much paleo brownie but better that that the real stuff I guess?? I have decided that only give you 3 weeks so you only have 3 weeks to freak out, or the patients cortisol levels would go through the roof and no one would pass their ecg tests.
I am in two minds, practical Tamzin is saying hooray, about time no more periods ever again I will save a fortune on sanitary supplies and no longer will I be held to ransom by the curse, I can wear undies that aren't black and I never have to worry when I'm late, ah I wont be able to exercise what If I put on weight, I have had to work bloody hard for these losses, trying to sort out child care for the first few weeks and have I am going to magicly pay for it, my husband has no paid leave left so we need to minimise his time off if we want to pay the mortgage and the leastist on that list the chance of the carcinoma coming back is greatly reduced. However the more sensitive Tamzin is saying, this is it there is no more changing your mind no more babies NOT THAT I WANT ANY MORE but no take backs, hours in surgery when ever I have had surgery in the past it has never been straight forward I am "special" My very active 4 year old will jump on me and bust my stitches, this is not a guaranteed i will still have to have biopsies every year, I won't be able to cook and will end up making convenient chooses instead of nutrition based ones, being stuck at home like rapunzel on top of the hill for 8 weeks may drive me crazy!!!! Ok fears are listed and now I have written them down they can't hurt me, or that's my theory any way. Sun is shinning and I have cross fit tonight xx

LOL I actually followed both of your thought processes perfectly. I have been working really hard to remind myself lately that weight loss is a journey. It's not a race that you run, win, and then you're done. Sure we have goals, but LIFE is what we're here to live, not WEIGHT LOSS. Okay, Okay, you could get all philosophical about life is better with weight loss... but if you don't take care of your health (surgery) then there wouldn't be life to continue on the weight loss. So...I wish you a quick recovery on your surgery. Plan for a few pound bobble on the scale, maybe even embrace a comfort food that you planned.

you need this 8 weeks for recovery; make it a time when it's all about you and improving your health. Plan now to have something on hand to distract your mind, and give you something different to do. You can handle this; but, why not make it productive for you, also.

Ask your doctor about exercises. I'm sure he'll want you to walk soon to minimize the possibility of complications from sitting too much. Just remember...easy does it.
