Jenny O's Journal, 01 April 2015

I had a challenging food week last week. Lots of stress and being away from home and my normal routine. I didn't gain anything from last week to this week, but could have had a loss if I had eaten better. But, I know what the issue is and now I can fix it. I also got a new Zumba DVD - I LOVE Zumba, great cardio (which I lack) and its fun because its like dancing. Gets lots of steps on the fitbit when I do it too. This month is going to be challenging for me. Got the wedding in 25 days, a shower and a bachelorette party in addition to the normal every day stresses. Met with the Alzheimer's association about my Dad the other day and it was very informative. That helped to relieve some of the stress. Having a plan. What stuck in my head fitness/health wise is that one of the thing the research has found is that a healthy diet, eating lots of fruits and veggies, and exercising helps to reduce the chances that I will get the disease. It is in my family (grandpa, uncle, dad), so odds are one of us sisters are going to get it. Although they don't know what causes it, it can't hurt to keep healthy. Its such a sad disease, I am praying I don't get it, so if that can help motivate me to stay on track, I'm on it!

If you read a book titled "Grain Brain" written by neurologist Dr. Perlmutter, you also will learn about the role of healthy fats in protecting your brain from deterioration. It is an excellent book!
