So my MMA school offers Cardio Bootcamp and Cardio Kickboxing class. I finally attended to the Bootcamp class last night. It was an hour long. My BJJ teacher taught the class.. and OMG he did not let me rest.

I am convinced that going to the gym is not even comparable to going to the classes I go to . Why? Because there is no way in HELL I would push myself to the limits in the gym as I was pushed in Bootcamp.
If I didn't have my teacher to push me to do the last 3 reps. I would of given up already if I was alone at the gym.

...and I thought I pushed hard weight training at the gym. Yesterday made my lifting workouts look like cake =(

Next time I find myself at my condo gym (which is a typical gym) I will remember to push myself far beyond my limits.

Exactly...there was something's last night I didn't' think I could even do...but I forced myself to do it. I did not want the two 18 year olds to beat me LOL

Sounds fun. I have been wanting to start. I worry about my size being an issue @ 421 pounds; but the sooner I start the faster my size will become less of an issue. I used to be very athletic a lifetime ago. I say all that to say this, are there any large people in your class? If so, how are they handling it?

I don't think you need to worry about your size so much. In MMA you are learning technique. My school is different from some others, We learn Krav maga, BJJ, Mauy Thai etc all together in order to achieve higher belts. I love that we don't just learn one technique. Also we spar. The biggest guy in my class is my boyfriend at the moment. He gained a lot of weight since he met me. He might be around 280-290 lbs and he is 6ft 1" He is holding up fine because he has trained MMA in the past. So he already knows much of the technique but his cardio isn't up there yet. He just has to slowly work into getting in shape again. I am actually learning some of my classmates started at my school over weight and that MMA has helped them lose the belly for good, and keep the weight off. What is great is that you may train for 2 hours, but you have so much fun it feels like you were there only 30 min! I hope this helps motivate you to start :)

Thanks Glen!! I will now push myself further when I weight train too. Just think what when you are telling yourself you are done..just do 3 more reps. You will be surprised how far you can actually push yourself too. But don't injure yourself please :)) Also there is a guy in his 60's that does the cardio kick boxing. He does the whole class really well at his own pace. Pretty impressive
