Am still struggling with things to eat for DH (Wheat Belly Diet). He is not liking any of the bread substitutes I've made so far. Breakfast and dinner menus are OK, but he still tends to be drawn to Hardee's for lunch.

Please excuse me while I bang my head against wall.

I envy the fact your husband is onboard with you. I have to prepare 2 separate meals for each meal. He's skinny and eats everything. I'm exhausted and weary of trying to find things for myself without getting bored with the same thing.

Is wheat belly like a gluten free?

Classic - I fully understand. Yesterday I worked, shopped on my lunch break, then got home and spent over an hour making the zucchini lasagna. I can see why people say the heck with it and do McDonalds.

Nicholaix - Yes, kind of. Dr. Davis does not recommend grains of any kind and only limited serving of brown rice. Of course, it depends if you have his old book or his new book. (Head banging on wall again - LOL).

"Wheat Belly" is a great book - and so is "Grain Brain" by Dr. Perlmutter.

HCB - DH liked the idea of Wheat Belly because the author is a cardiologist who likes to get his patients off meds. Have not read Grain Brain yet but it is on my list.

Buffy, am I understanding you correctly? your DH decided to go on wheat belly and then isn't folowing through @ lunch? he's a big boy and should take control of his lunch choices. It's just me and many nights I'm thankful I can just pull out something mostly pre-done that I can toss together for dinner. I make extras for lunches and nights like that. When my kids were growing up most meals were crockpot during the week.

Wholefoodnut - Yep, you got it! He is a big boy but I was trying to help him all I can because I know how hard changing up a lifetime of bad eating can be. Right now he is working near a Hardees so at lunch time that is easy and convenient for him. Cannot find anything to pack that appeals to him.

What about low carb bread?? I cant get my BF to follow the paleo diet perfectly, when I have time I made him a healthy sandwich with organic deli meats (applegate farm) and mixed greens, mustard on a low carb pita and he doesn't complain. But I am not sure what the Wheat Belly Diet is. I know what you are going through though. I argue with my BF all the time how he needs to eat at least a salad at lunch when I don't make him food and to Make better food choices. But if you have your DH eating the other 2 meals of the day healthy..that is a great start! Remember...baby steps

I was wondering if maybe something he doesn't normally have for lunch that might work. My kids have the 'yumbox' lunch boxes and fill them with cheese, meat, nuts, veggies, etc. instead of a salad. Especially since we switched to gluten free it makes it easier to do less bread. $6.00 a loaf for gluten free bread..yikes! They also have the thermos they can put soups in. But seriously it sounds more like a "I need my man time" and control thing. When he is ready he will come around. They have to do something to push our buttons lol.

Panigale - I think you are right a healthy compromise is in order.

Nicholaix - would be willing to try the mixed snacks. What could it hurt?

Granchick - Much appreciated!

Buffy, no clues on wheat belly... wish I had some. Great that you are working so hard at finding solutions to help him.
