FutureFitness's Journal, 29 January 2015

The scale is betraying me. I have followed the diet very closely for close to a month.

So, I did some math and have started day one of a drastic experiment.

1. I have been fat since I was 4. That's 34 years of obesity, with only a brief respite during boxing training, which was so ridiculously grueling that any normal person would have been much thinner and leaner than I was. In fact, I kept so much fat on my body during that period that I was accused of not following the regimen more closely when, in fact, I followed it closer than anyone else in the boxing club.

2. My father had diabetes from a young age; he was diagnosed at 20 while in the Army.

3. My mother also has had a life-long weight problem.

So, based on all that, I am diagnosing myself as severely metabolic resistant. To that end, I am starting a "fat fast" today and will keep it up until I have lost ten pounds. I no longer plan to cheat for the Superbowl.

My wife is giving me grief, but she is a naturally thin person who has had to fight as hard to GAIN weight as I have to to lose it. In fact, despite several years of her eating very poorly and being lazy, she still has a nice figure. Better than average, actually. And, yes, I am being objective.
