Ms Elizabeth's Journal, 06 January 2015

I haven't been on here in forever. I've been logging, exercising, and being relatively accountable. At least as accountable as you can be with 3 kids. You try saying no to a 2 yr old feeding you chips. If it weren't enough they taste good its the only time he wasn't running through the house in nothing but a diaper pretending to be a puppy. Just like the only time he wasn't whining he wanted down at the store was when he was feeding me popcorn chicken. Luckily I'm back at work now so the only person feeding me during the day is co-workers. They seem to stop at 1 chocolate covered pretzel though and don't sit in front of me seeing how many they can shove in my mouth at one time while they giggle with delight.

Good news is I've gone back to tracking my calories burned. According to the little dohicky I burn between 2200-2500 calories a day. I figure so long as I eat less than I burn I'm doing alright. I'm not sweating the chocolate covered pretzel or coffee with cream. So long as I workout that day, ate some fruits and veggies, and still have a 500 calorie deficit I consider it my prize for the day. So long as I'm not double fisting m and ms I'm doing better than I was before.. not that I will admit to double fisting m & ms.. or chocolate chips.. or sneaking rum balls in the middle of the night. We won't even mention the driveby stealing of ramen noodles from the preteen. It's not my fault she left her lunch unguarded.

See? You didn't miss much. Life is still insane. I'm still going nuts. The only change is I'm wearing a dohicky and it tells me how many cookies I can sneak without them going to my rear end. I love dohickys. If I'm still wearing it in 3 months i think I will get a fitbit. Because dohickys are fun. And that one's waterproof.. I've already stumbled into the shower with this one still strapped to my arm. Luckily I noticed it before the second verse of the lego movie song "Everything is Awesome" Listen to it. I dare you. You'll get it stuck in your head too and suddenly find yourself standing in front of the copier at work singing it.. out loud... while you try to figure out how to make copies without changing the toner because well.. I changed the toner last time and it's not my turn.

I was trying to log food and would never do it consistently. Need to change that starting today. Had a HUGE wake up call. I haven't worked out and I have GOT to stop the madness. Wanna join me?

Absolutely! You yell at me when I slack and I will yell at you. You need a dohicky. We should get fitbits together.

What dohicky are you using?

Bodymedia through Jillian Michaels. Downside is it's $4 a month to use the dumb thing. Upside is I already had it from last year and well.. knowing how many cookies you can sneak is helpful. :)

That's what I have too, do you log your food on a different site too? Or just calculate between here and there?

Nope I just log the food here. This site seems to have the biggest database for food when it comes to logging. The Jillian Michaels site did't even know what a rum ball was! I considered that a crime against nature so I just started logging here again then I take my calories burned from their site. Oh and sleep. I record the sleep I got from there and wave it in front of hubbies face and say. I got 3 hours and 52 minutes of sleep last night! And you.. you snore. Now I have proof.

HAHAHAHA! That's awesome, yet very sad...sleep is so wonderful :) I do like that it tracks sleep but I don't like that I have to plug it in somewhere else to see what I'm doing....

I don't see how those things calculate the calories burned. Is it basically a pedometer? That is really all the fitbit is. If the one you are using is actually monitoring your heartrate, then the fitbit would be a step down. I had a fitbit and ended up giving it to my mother. Missed you around here but then again, most of us have been rather sporatic the last couple weeks.

I am going to order the Fitbit Charge HR tonight. I do love a dohicky. :-)

I love policies too and I really miss my pedometer. The one my niece gave me is Crap and every time I went to look at it I accidentally cleared it. I'm with Alex. I like to be able to see what I'm doing, not plug it in somewhere. That has motivated me to keep walking, do one more lap etc.

You've been missed.

Maybe the bodymedia is better then. Slightly annoying but better. This straps to your upper arm and tracks what you're heartrate. It can tell me how long I actually worked out and raised my heartrate vs.. um well.. strolling along reading a smutty book. Lord knows I can't run into a wall with my arm without it beeping at me because it has to reconnect with me. Which seems to happen alot more than I realized before something beeped at me. The other advantage is I have a little display thing for it I can carry around and sync. Only bad part is.. it straps to your arm. Which makes it look jiggly and fat. Good thing it's winter and sweater season. :) Well poop. Maybe I will stick with my original dohicky. At least until summer. By then I will know what I average anyways. Still.. it's fun to have a dohicky.

love the fitbit. Its indestructable. I have one and its reassuring to see how many steps I do in a day. I also have a pack of wolves, I mean children. I laughed my butt off when the doc said aim for 5000 steps. I log about 15000 a day give or take on the fitbit.

The Fitbit Charge HR does heart rate and all the other fitbit stuff too.

1400 plus for me with the grandkids at my house, not even trying LOL. I don't think I ever sat down when I had kids at home except to feed them and maybe rock them to sleep when they were little then I'd fall asleep with them . I gave up reading except to the kids because I'd get through a sentence and be sound asleep. :)) :)) fitbit flex doesn't do the heart rate. we were given them at work so i cannot complain.

You HAVE been missed but w/the hectic life you lead I wasn't about to nag you. I'm so lucky no one around here wants to shove food in my mouth but me. I want a dohicky... I don't know why other than to say 'hey, lemme show you my dohicky' and see if people blush :)

Back to work - boooo! Does the dohicky count account for breastfeeding? I swear thats the only way I am slowly losing a little! Oops! I've thought about reactivating my bodymedia fit but then those numbers drive me crazy and I just hate paying for a monthly service, plus that thing is so annoyingly obvious on the arm!
