Checking In...

UNDER 260LBS!!!!

Yeah, I've been a little naughty and not really written in my journal for a wee while, but very happy to be under 260lbs and wanted to share. Actually, a lot has happened in the past week or so and life has suddenly become pretty hectic, so I feel like I'm still playing catch up!

The big news first - I just got engaged! This is probably been the main cause of life going crazy, as we've been busy meeting people, calling family and dealing with everyone asking us about details like dates and wedding themes even though it's really early days and we don't have a clue what's going on. It's left our brains pretty scrambled.

In a fit of madness we even decided it would be a great idea to jump on a plane out to the middle east to visit his parents and get the engagement ring made while we're out there. We're already going on holiday tomorrow for a week, but now the day after we return we will rush to the airport to grab a flight out. Then I will most likely die in the heat.

However, it's worth it because I get to design my own ring and have something really individual. Here is a wee sketch of the design for anyone interested...hopefully the Arabs are ok with intricate knotwork!

Anyway, weightloss has slowed somewhat. Not entirely suprising given that I visited my grandfather for a couple of days and, as most of you will probably understand, it's bloody difficult to stay under your RDI when being fed by grandparents. At least I only went over for one day, and I've been careful to stay under after that so I have eventually shifted another 0.5lb.

As for my monthly goals, I managed to achieve all of them apart from 1 week when I didn't plan very well and ended up not making something from scratch. Goals for this month will be more simplistic because I really do rely heavily on FS to record my food/calories and for the next couple of weeks this won't be possible due to lack of internet access. Anyway, here they are:

Goals for May

1. Practice portion control to stay within RDI.
2. Keep a manual note of food eaten where possible.
3. Maintain higher activity levels through walking when away from home.
4. Continue to not eat out for lunch at work for the month of May.
5. Stay positive and remember that it's about fitness, not just about weight loss.

Wish me luck - see you guys in a couple of weeks!

Hi She :) I was so happy to see you online again, missed you this last week!! And the NEWS!!!! Huge congrats and thumbs up on all of it - really sounds like you've had the mother of all hectic weeks :) And off to the middle east too.... I am sooo envious! Your sketch looks absoulutely adoring - do you do arts for a living?? And Im sure you'll find a jewelry-maker who knows just exactly how to turn it into the most awesome rings ever :) Which metal are you aiming for - and what kind of stone? I'd love to see a picture of the 'real' ones when they're finished. About weightloss - really - you're doing just fabulous! And considering a week like you just had, well, I'd be proud of the result! I don't doubt for a second that you'll do fine with your monthly goals, and as your 5th goal states, it's not just the numbers it's also the fitness! Have a great 2 weeks, and stay positive and happy (as if that would be a challenge for you - lol) Can't wait to read your journal when you get back home. Hugs Maki

Quick update to answer your questions - Due to allergies the ring will have to be yellow gold. I'm thinking of having a ruby and a smaller diamond as the stones, but will decide for certain nearer the time. Finally, I'm not any form of artist for a living (I wish!)...my job is much more normal and boring lol. Will be sure to let you know how everything goes on my various trips when I get back.

Congratulations on the engagement (and the weightloss in spite of being fed by grandparents)

Oh, WOW! Congratulations on the engagement AND the weightloss. I love the design of the ring, too. What a great sketch! As creative as I am, the "drawing gene" escaped me; I admire anyone who is able to put their thoughts down on paper in this way. I've never been married, but I know how much work planning a wedding takes. I predict that you'll lose the pounds without even thinking about it between now and then, and we'll be celebrating another milestone. Have a fantastic holiday and, once again, CONGRATULATIONS!!
