ChrisSpark's Journal, 13 December 2014

Well, I've been fighting, and the battle may be lost but I WILL win the war. I show this gain despite sticking to my diet goals relatively well. I know that the change in meds can lead to weight gain and I am determined not to have these meds derail my weight loss.
That being said, I am struggling with almost constant hunger pangs in the evening. I am just eating a few almonds to quiet the gurgling, hollow stomach feeling. And of course, we've been here before with the plateau followed by a sudden drop in weight. I sure hope that is what is happening. In some ways, I would be content if I just made it through the winter without gaining weight.
I am using my light therapy and the change in meds has helped. Helped a little too much, in fact, since I now am fighting some really fun insomnia. It will all level out soon I hope. It would also be really nice to see the sun from time to time but it has been several straight days of cloud cover here...very gloomy.

Drink lots of water. That helps my hunger pangs.

If you can afford it give yourself some rewards for sticking to the diet, even if it is something small, but not necessarily food. I grew up with food rewards and it's hard to break that bond of food and happiness. I am going through the winter blues and I live in MN so I know what you mean. Hang in there!

Hell do I know insomnia. Dunno whether you know this already, but here's a tip. If u can't sleep, don't toss and turn. Get up and do something fun (but not with a screen) If you enjoy fruit, treat yourself to something exotic (nutritious and low cal) :)

Thanks marilu30 ! Got myself into some trouble with too many rewards. It seems my self-control issues are not limited to food ;-) This time of year there are so many "one time a year" sales.

Hmm, it could be the screen that causes the trouble. I do spend too much late night time on tv, smart phone or laptop...maybe I'll try to switch to real books and magazines and see if it helps. I am done tossing and turning for 8 hours, might as well be productive.

Chris, don't you find that drinking water makes your thirsty? I find the more water I drink the thirstier I feel.

Water is a good idea to fill up tummy- just Remember to cut off by 7 or 8pm to have enough time to get out of system

Chris, I rarely get thirsty whether I drink fluids or not. That's how older people get dehydrated.

The blue light emitted by LEDs interferes with your circadian clock.
