northernmusician's Journal, 30 November 2014

Soo... baked goods and 'seasonal' treats are beginning to show up. What I'm finding is that, as soon as I've had one, they're like a black hole vortex sucking me in. Can you say addiction? I'm not talking 'I really like this', smiley kind of addiction; I'm talking 'I can't do without this and I'm willing to die on the streets for this' addiction. This is not good. My goal is to hold my weight between now and Jan 1st. I'm not sure how I'm going to pull it off, but that's the goal.

You're funny. Just put on the plate as many cookies you allow yourself for the day and the rest just put away somewhere where you won't be looking at it all the time. If you feel tempted to go for more just tell yourself that you have willpower, discipline and that you are stronger then the temporary craving.

You can beat that craving. I know it is hard but it can be done.

My sympathy. Walking the same walk.

I know what you mean. I have a friend who brings me a pumpkin bread with choc chips, full sugar and wheat flour. After she leaves... it goes out to the birds or into the trash. Of course I have to break it up for the trash or I'll dig it out again and eat. I know what addiction is.. Not a pretty sight... Good luck.

Thanks you guys. It's not that I haven't done it before. It's a matter of desire. I'll make it. I'm glad I have FS. If I didn't, I'd have walked away and just started to really bloat up again. Thanks for being here guys. Morning snow white. It must be morning there by now.

I gave in to exactly that kind of thing for 2 weeks and gained 10 pounds this month. I know that practice saying no makes saying no easier. I also know it takes just the right mindset to be able to say no. Celebrate every little success and enjoy it when you do say no and make it through another day. J

NM I'm also the same. My plan is to not allow myself to indulge but set a few things aside and then enjoy at Christmas.

I know what you mean. Friday morning, I woke up in the gutter outside a bakery with powdered sugar under my nose and no clear memory of the prior 24 hours... :)
