ChrisComedy's Journal, 26 November 2014

Steps yesterday: 776 (SmartHealth watch).

Like the Striiv Smart Pedometer and the SmartHealth watch, the Withings Pulse does not record steps on the Sunny Air Walk Trainer. However, it does measure elevation on the stepper, which the Striiv and SmartHealth don't.

Based on Draglist's recommendation, I got my sister and brother-in-law copies of "Younger Next Year."

The five pound bag of lentils arrived.

The Crock Pot I bought was the cheapest and smallest I could get. One can of tomatoes, one can of beans, and one cup of broth and it's full.

Diet Calendar Entry for 26 November 2014:
1636 kcal Activities & Exercise: Walking (exercise) - 3.5/mph - 1 hour, Resting - 15 hours, Sleeping - 8 hours. more...

Way to go on getting the book as gifts. I'm thinking of doing the same for my brothers and sisters.

ChrisComedy! What are you doing with the lentils? What plan are you following?

I plan to make soup in a slow cooker. I'm on the Altetnate Day Diet.

Oh Ok! Never heard of it. Will look it up! How is it working for you? Thank You!

Chris, I've been pondering this for awhile and no negative implied. My fitbit says I walk over 1000 steps just getting ready for work in the morning. I've not been able to figure out how you walk less than 1000 steps in a day. My house is a small ranch 980 square feet on the main floor. I just keep thinking increase your steps it might help in many ways.

Chris,I have the book on hold at the library,is the lentils related in some way?

Younger next year is really good. On draglist's suggestion I found a book but it was the for women @ the library. I need to get a copy f my own, I keep reserving it to re-read. No relation to lentils

Wholefoods, on a bad day when I don't leave the house, I only do about 450 steps. Mind you, that doesn't happen much any more but it used to be my life.

Msbuggirl, I'm just trying to figure it out, not being negative at all. I keep thinking it cannot be accurate. My fitbit says almost 300 in the past 1/2 hour I've been awake, 3 trips to the back door letting dogs in and out, and one extra to the kitchen for coffee and a couple bathroom trips since midnight. My house is little ranch, 980 sq feet so many apartments are bigger.

You must really boogie lol. I never have my pedometer on at night, that would probably raise mine, but I seriously didn't move much last winter. Just hid under the covers a lot.

This fitbit, free from our company is interesting. Pedometer didn't go on until I was dressed for the day, but since this is wrist band I just keep it on except to charge ît. I do have a completely finished basement but haven't been down there much lately. Must stop playing on the computer and get my rolls started.

Transom, I lost 40 pounds on the Alternate-Day Diet.

wholefoodnut, as an experiment, I counted 50 steps from the bedroom to the kitchen and back. None of them registered on the Withings Pulse clipped to my belt. I would've gotten a Fitbit, but it doesn't work with any of my devices.

Chris, does it have an adjustment for sensitivity? I played with my Pedometer counting steps and seeing if it matched and re-adjusting it until it matched. Dropped it one time and it doubled my steps for the day, had to re-adjust. With you talking about doing your airwalk steps everyday, your numbers were not making sense to me, they seemed way low.

I do an hour a day on the trainer plus the occasional five minutes to counter the effects of sitting. Doesn't register on the Withings Pulse, even though I now do 30 seconds of HIT every five minutes. The sensitivity of the Pulse isn't adjustable, but it does register more now that I put it in my pocket.

I'm glad you started watching to see what isn't registering so you can get a mere accurate idea.

I miss the daily average steps feature of the Striiv Smart Pedometer. Gave me something to beat. Not sure I want to spend $60 to replace it, particularly since I just got the Pulse. I may just wait for the next iteration of the Striiv. Until then, I will just set a daily target to beat and keep raising it.
