I will get the full results from my doctor next Tuesday. For some reason my blood pressure takes serious dips and leaps. I'm more concerned about the dips. I am one of those like a few others here that sodium will indeed cause a leap! On the day of my last tests on Friday my normal blood pressure of about 130/83 was 140/57, then 140/58, finally getting up to 140/70 after the treadmill. This was what I called a bad symptom day too. I told veggies yuk I was so glad I was having tests done that day because I had all my bad heart symptoms. So I guess that's how I feel when my blood pressure dips so low. The tech thought my BP was great, kept commenting on it. But no, it wasn't. Yesterdays tests to show a few day comparison they rechecked my BP and it was 135/92. A bit high but she was in shock over the change in readings in just a few days. I told her I'm not concerned about the high reading because it was so low the other day, I have been eating sodium and also had junk on Monday at a BBQ. But it was so low on Friday I didn't worry about it like I normally would have. She just still couldnt believe that drastic of a jump in my diastolic in the matter of a few days so I have to go back in again today for more blood work and another BP reading. Then on Tuesday next week I see my doc. I told her I'm not worried because I know how to keep my BP from getting too high when I know I have to. I just didn't know I had to since it was so low on Friday. She said I'm kindof missing the point that my blood pressure shouldnt go through such extremes in such a short period of time. She asked how I feel and I said, "I felt worse on Friday! I feel bummed today that I'm here instead of at the shooting match so I think I'm ok now." But she just kept looking at me all worried like and just not believing the difference in my BP readings.I told her I'll control whatever I can through diet and you guys just tell me what else I need to do, but this is not going to kill me. I missed last nights match so I think today I'm going to deal with the heat and go shoot and practice some drills. Have a great week fellow FS pals!

I don't know much about blood pressure so I don't know what your wild swings would indicate. I certainly hope it isn't anything serious. Do you have a BP machine at home so you can take daily readings yourself (and at a resting state, rather than revved up in a doctor's office!)? It might be helpful to keep a running record to show your doctor.

I don't know much about this either but it sounds like you have it under control for the most part. Hope you get it sorted out and they tell you what the next step is!

Yes I have a home machine and I average what they say I average, about 130/80. It's more the sudden low that has them concerned I think. But I'll find out more Tuesday. The cardiologists is new to me so all he has seen so far is one extreme and then the other, but actually the only real change was just that low. It did go a bit high yesterday but that was only because it was so low on Friday that I wasnt watching my sodium or junk food as a result. I should know better but that low reading fooled me too.

140/90 is what apparently* is the cutoff between pre-hypertension and hypertension, as you most likely know. When you mentioned 130/83 i thought, wow that would be a good day for me. That 58 diastolic is weird though, not necessarily for people with low BP in general, but for someone who is normally in the pre-hypertension category. And those swings are probably not good. I'd be interested to see what the new cardiologist says, I just hope your not going to be put through the entire get-more-iron regiment again. I have seen folks up here that get a device that randomly checks their BP over a period of 72 hours - just to even it out.

You are way too young to have to deal with all this. I do not understand swings with blood pressure, mine is low and stays low. Hope your doctor can get it all figured out so you are feeling better soon. ((hugs))
